a meeting of two dark minds,

This review is from: Floaters - A Jack Daniels/Alex Chapa Mystery (Kindle Edition)
As a longtime Konrath fan, I've come to expect serious thrills and occasional bits of wit and violence--I've not read Henry Perez before but after this engaging introduction to Alex Chapa, he's now on my list. The bonus material is also clever and insightful, and the formatting is taut.

If you like mysteries, you can't go wrong with this. The bonus stories are a lot of fun as well.

I wish that this was a full length story, the mix of the two lead characters have the makings of a great full lenght novel. Even as a short story it was a great read!

Floaters,
This review is from: Floaters - A Jack Daniels/Alex Chapa Mystery (Kindle Edition)
Quick and short. Half the book is a preview for another book. Should be sold as a short story. Not worth the $1.99 I paid for it. Will hesitate before buying this author again.

Short,

This is a very short read. The short stories are interspersed with "conversation" between the authors and a quarter of the book is excerpts from the authors' new books. The main story is unexciting. I was not that interested. The best is the Phin story - cannot give anything away. I suppose it was worth the 99c I paid. But I shouldn't bother. Some writers do short stories well. These are not wowing me.

Fun, Action-Packed Thriller,
This review is from: Floaters - A Jack Daniels/Alex Chapa Mystery (Kindle Edition)
J.A. Konrath and Henry Perez team up their characters and create a fun, action-packed thriller. I have read both authors before, and enjoyed their work. The combination of their styles and talents results in unique and entertaining mix of thrills and humor.
The quick wit and realistic back-and-forth made this a page-turner. And the story, which is populated by some truly interesting characters, includes some unexpected twists and turns. The bonus materials includes excellent short stories by both authors. I also loved their behind the scenes discussion about process of writing together. The price is great, and the entertainment value greatly outweighs the investment. Floaters provides a nice afternoon's entertainment, full of mystery and mayhem, with a few good laughs thrown in.

OK,

These stories were just OK. After reading them you kind of feel like they were churned out quickly to make money.

Konrath is always entertaining, always surprising, always dancing between horror and humor - he does it so well he makes it seem easy. This author is the real deal.
