5.0 out of 5 stars Is There A New King Of Lo-Fi!!!, April 26, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Floating Action (Audio CD)
Seth Kauffman has brought it all together with his latest release under the new moniker FLOATING ACTION. Dude plays all the instruments and records at a home studio in North Carolina. Cinder Cone and Marie Claire are tremendous. Many influences - ska, soul, hip-hop, reggae, funk.

What Seth Kauffman has released so far gives every indication that he is ready to accept the torch from Beck.

5.0 out of 5 stars Do-it-yourself Indie Goodness, March 4, 2010

Another great indie release, Floating Action's eponymous debut is a relaxing, rolling record that is parts reggae, psychedelia, garage rock, and lo-fi soul. This album really evades an adequate description but it definitely warrants a listen. Seth Kaufmann, the name behind the monkier, plays almost all the instruments himself, and the results are nothing short of impressive, especially considering how organic the record sounds. The first track "50 Lashes" sets the mood and model for the album as it coaxes in the listener. Hopefully we will see more of Floating Action in the years to come.

I wish this album and this group would get more attention from the press...it's good stuff! "Floating Action" has a fun, summery, lo-fi Caribbean vibe that's hard to compare to anything else. I really love the faster tunes-- "Marie Claire" and "Cinder Cone" are my favorites, but "Don't Stop Loving Me Now" is really quite good too. I can't wait to hear more from this group!

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome CD, April 29, 2009
This review is from: Floating Action (Audio CD)
This CD has an awesome lo-fi/vintage LP sound that adds a little flavor to the great songs by Kauffman. As the other reviewer pointed out, there are many influences here, from late 1960's dub/reggae to country music of the same era--it's all here, something for everybody! can't wait to hear what he comes out with next.
