4.0 out of 5 stars Daughter loves this - as a parent I'm a bit less impressed
I bought this for my two year old daughter who absolutely loves this toy. Whenever I say it is bath time she responds "Dora Island?' and heads for the bathroom. 2.0 out of 5 stars Great ideas, definate flaws
I bought this toy for $4.99, so I don't feel as cheated....but it has some problems.
CONS
1. IT DOESN'T FLOAT VERY WELL! hello!
2. The tree doesn't clip into the base in any way, so it is constantly falls off.
2. The dolls have holes in the bottom. Once they are in the water, water is constantly coming out of them. You cannot play with them...

You cannot play with them outside of the tub (not to mention the cooties growing on the inside and coming out when they are submerged.
3. The boat won't stay on the tie off, very frustrating for a 3 year old.

Pros
1. It is Dora, which makes everyone smile :)
2. They loved putting everyone down the slide.
A great concept, just not designed very well at all.

3.0 out of 5 stars Flawed, October 8, 2005

This toy is flawed. And while I don't like to write negative reviews, maybe this will save someone the money I spent on this toy.

Here are the problems:
1. It doesn't stay together very well. The tree falls off as
does the bridge holding the two islands together.

2. It doesn't float very well. The people easily fill with water
and they are hard making it difficult to squirt the water out
of them. This makes them heavy. The island doesn't float well
either.

3. You can't squirt the water out of the people because they are
harder plastic. This means the germs and mold grows in there.
YUCK!

The slide is fun and my kids had a ball putting things down the slide. But for the money, there are other, better toys for the bath available.

I bought this for my two year old daughter who absolutely loves this toy. Whenever I say it is bath time she responds "Dora Island?' and heads for the bathroom. Unfortunately, I am a bit less impressed. For starters, Dora, Diego and Boots float face down in the water. The little boat that it comes with will not hold one of the characters sitting up, they have to lie down or the boat will tip. This does cause my daughter to repeatedly try to get the character in the boat and she eventually gives up. Each character is made of a reasonably hard plastic, but each has a hole in the bottom. Of coarse, water fills each character and it is very difficult to get the water out for drying (which the instructions do recommend you dry this toy between uses). The slide has a snap together part which also fills with water that is impossiblt to get out. We have only had this toy for two weeks but I am beginning to worry about mildew building up. I give this toy a 4 because I know these are minor issues, but I would have thought Fisher Price would have given these issues a bit more thought. If I had it to do all over again I probably would have had my daughter only play with this on dry land!

3.0 out of 5 stars Dora Floating Island bathtub toy, June 9, 2004

My 3 year old daughter carli went nuts in the store when she saw this bathtub toy. She does play with it everytime shes in the tub, but I am not happy. Due to the holes in the characters that come with the set its more work for me to have to struggle to get the water out of them after each bath. The last thing us mothers need is more work! My 3 year old does love the toy and because I love her I will keep it and continue to squeeze the water out after each use.

3.0 out of 5 stars Island doesn't float, November 4, 2004

My daughter loves Dora and received this gift for a "Dora-Themed" 2nd Birthday party. For starters, nothing floats unless the island is completely put together, and it is constantly coming apart and flopping into the water. The characters all float face down and don't sit right on any part of the toy. The tree that fills with water is useless.
I gave this toy a 3 because it's cute and colorful, thats about it.

4.0 out of 5 stars solution to holes in the characters, July 9, 2006

I had to do this with a few of my kids' other tub toys since I hated throwign them out because of mold getting inside them. Before ever putting them in my the tub, I get out my glue gun and fill the holes. It works great! It also helps certain toys float better. We don't use the Dora in the tub as much as we use it out of the tub.

5.0 out of 5 stars All Dora...all the time, May 11, 2004

That is it, my life has officially been taken over by this sweet little Latina. (Well, her and my 3 yr old daughter who is obsessed w/ her!) I bought this for my daughter because she loves all things Dora. And let me tell you, she LOVES this. It makes bathtime more fun. Even on days when she's not interested in personal hygiene, she can be lured to the tub of water with this little toy. It is great for imaginative play. She creates all sorts of little stories with the 3 characters included (Dora, Boots, and Diego). She also loves to pour water into the tree and see Swiper spin around. It's made fairly well. The only thing I don't like is the tree seems to fall quite a bit, but that's not the end of the world. Overall, a fun tub toy for the $.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not impressed.....Not worth the effort...., November 21, 2004

My 2yr old twins received this toy for their birthday; i also have a 4 yr old son. This toy is so large there is barely enough room for my kids; if one is in at a time it's fine but if more than one child is in the tub this thing is too big. It does not stay together & this frustrates my kids. When they are done I hardly know where to keep all the pieces! I have sinced stashed the island in the linen closet & we play with the Dora, Boots and Diego that came with it. My kids love the characters and they have the Large Dora & Boots 'splash around fun' dolls for the tub - much better and well constructed.

2.0 out of 5 stars Falls apart, September 26, 2005
= Durability:2.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:1.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Floating Island Bath Time Adventure (Toy)
Like the others have said, this thing falls apart when you blink too hard. The bridge connecting the 2 island pieces has to be in place, or the islands topple. The tree also falls out a lot, and the figurines fill with water (yuck). The figurines are made of fairly hard plastic, so it's difficult to squeeze the water out after bathtime. The kids like it, but are constantly asking me to put it back together. I'd look for a more durable bath toy, if that's what you're after.

2.0 out of 5 stars Falls Apart, August 5, 2005
This review is from: Floating Island Bath Time Adventure (Toy)
This bath toy is very cute - but falls apart when you look at it. My 3-year-old ended up giving up on the palm tree filled with water and Swiper the Fox simply because it fell over every second! She plays with half of the toy - the slide - and sets it on the side of the tub and makes all her friends slide down into the tub. Not worth the money.
