As an Ozric fan I was surprised when this came out, a cd of their songs remixed. Although not approved by the band, this is a wonderful collection of techno that I have listened to over and over again at work, in the car, at home. It may not be a true Ozric's album, and doesn't match up to great Ozric albums such as "The Hidden Step" or "Become The Other". However as an upbeat techno album I'd call it a masterpiece and better yet - the grooves here are a lot of fun. Enjoy!

Well, as with any remix album, there are bound to be some brilliant interpretation alongside some stinkers. The tracks by Eat Static, System 7, and Hallucinogen are awesome. The rest range from pretty cool to pretty awful. Contrary to the previous reviewer's statement, at least one song preserves one of Ed Wynne's incredible solos -- the System 7 remix of "Sunhair" has Ed's solo intertwined with Steve Hillage's guitar line -- very cool!

I perfer the real songs not by various artists...half the songs on the remix is ok but others are just plain boring.

I am into trance, psychedelic trance music, and ambient, etc.

Also I love the ozric tentacles an have every album they came out with.

I believe if you are a REAL fan of any artists then by the albums they made emselfs not greatest hits crap or whatever....the remix an greatest hits CD's are only for people that are not true fans or just for beginners.

First, to put my review in perspective: I like almost everything Ozric has done and have all their albums, but I am not too familiar with techno or "dance" styles. I got this album because it was related to Ozrics but was dissappointed overall. For example, the leadoff track, Sunhair, is a song that is absolutely perfect in its original incarnation. Taking out most of the guitar and adding a pounding drum just destroys it. Even so, the remix on that particular track is fairly well done compared to some of the others. On the other hand, the best songs are the remixes of the songs that might be described as the less commercial songs, even by Ozric standards. These include Pteranodon and Strangeitude. On these the remix emphasises the odd noises and sound effects to good advantage. Sploosh! also works because it was somewhat of a techno/dance song to begin with (although I never really appreciated it until I heard the version with guitar on Spice Doubt). And, not only is the cover art extremely boring compared to typical Ozric covers, but the picture is of pollen not seeds. In a way that sums up the album - a potential irritant masquerading as something good.

This CD is a compilation of techno remixes of classic Ozric Tentacles tunes. Most Ozric fans will probably not like it as the first thing to go is the guitar. None of Ed's excellent leads remain on any of these remixes, it's all synth drums and keyboards. The selection of songs is good, including Sploosh and Nuerochasm, but it gets pretty repetitive after awhile.
