Editorial Reviews

Review

Liz Randall has skillfully created the first comprehensive guide for floaters. This book is packed with invaluable tips, ideas, and advice. In today s school climate, this is a MUST READ for all educators...not just floaters! --Jodi McKay, MAT, inventor of the Teacher Trolley Mobile Workstation and nomadic teacher advocate

This practical book is an honest and concise approach to dealing with the issue of floating. Having solid recommendations for the floating teacher, the administration, and for the teacher whose room is being utilized will create a professional atmosphere. This book would have helped me avoid some of the problems I encountered during my first few weeks as a floating teacher. I recommend it for all administrators and teachers who have floating teachers on their campuses. --Walt Griffin, Executive Director of Secondary Schools for Seminole County Public Schools

More About the Author

I am a high school English teacher and a former "floating" teacher. For two years I taught American Literature, British Literature, Writing and Poetry without a permanent classroom of my own.

The new merit pay and peer counseling programs do not cut any slack for "floaters." I wrote a book about the "floating" experience, which contains everything a floating teacher needs to know to have a successful school year and not lose any educational ground with her students.

This review is from: The Floating Teacher: A Guide to Surviving and Thriving (Perfect Paperback)
Virtually all people in positions of authority are going to be called upon to teach at one time or another. And this does not necessarily limit itself to the workplace. You might want to consider invitations you may get from civic organizations to speak to your field of expertise. And when you do - you want to be organized - you don't to be tripped up because you forgot to ask if i.e. the host if you need to bring the equipment necessary for a power-point presentation. Author Randall's Floating Teacher wont turn you into "speaker of the year," but it will see that you get to the podium with everything in place thus easing your mind and allowing you to put the best foot foreward. If, in your entire life, you have never been before an audience, following this neat little book will get you there in sterling fashon. It is an easy read and makes a fine reference for the personal library.
