I've heard of a herd (of elephants), a flock (of sheep), and a school (of fish). But a zeal of zebras? A prickle of porcupines? This book is chock full of great surprises, gorgeous photos, and snappy writing. It's as fun as it educational and appeals to adults and kids alike. I bought mine to give as a gift, but no way am I parting with this charmer of a book! I'll be ordering more copies to give away. I own several works by Jim McMullan; you, too, will fall in love with this gifted and innovative writer! Be sure to add Flocks, Herds, Litters & Schools to your home library. Wonderful stories about animals and their group names - well illustrated and written with a lot of imagination - I loved seeing how the name of the group fit the animal - a nice talking point for parents to read with their kids and some fun projects to do at the end of the book.

This book is a charmer. For all ages. Educational, witty and terrific pictures and layout. I hope it's not called a murder of crows for the reason I fear it is! Great fun.

What a wonderful book to share as a family. The photos are beautiful, and descriptions are fun and informative. It always keeps you guessing and trying to be creative. Our granddaughter gifted it to her class and kept her own copy. it should be a MUST for elementary schools. What a great way to learn about our animal friends!
