This CD is a hodgepodge collection of tribute covers to Phillys local goofy punks The Dead Milkmen. Some of the covers are fabulously creative interpretations, some are plain painful to listen to, some are quite interesting but overall it's a nice tribute. The best- Groundhog Day and their version of Beach Party Vietnam which parodies the original parody by including Elvis, Archie, Edith and Dick Nixon in on the fun. Sorching guitar solo! PLUS the CD has bonus MP3's included by the artists!!!! Buy it and you're in for a treat.

I have been a fan of TDM for close to 20 years. Nutrition was the only good track on this tribute. A monkey hitting a microphone with a rock could have done better covers. Amazingly disappointed.

As Performed By Geeks Who Want To Be Punks,
By Mike (Philadelphia, PA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Flogging A Dead Cow : A Tribute to The Dead Milkmen (Audio CD)
It always seemed there were two camps of Dead Milkmen fans: the giggling geeks who thought Soul Rotation was deep and brilliant, and the punks that wanted to trample them to the tune of the Milkmen's reptillian debut. This collection features more of the first kind of fan putting their own nerdy twists on the songs. But there's also a few of the rowdier kind to keep the balance. And then there's some bands that might never have listened to a Milkmen album. But I mean, come on, it has Adam and His Package on it; that alone should give you an idea of what the tracks are like. A bunch of songs as performed by geeks who want to be punks. This is a fitting tribute to a band that had such a bi-polar fan base. It's rather good too; it might have been exceptional with a little more hard rockin', but the nerd rock is pretty damn tasty.
