5.0 out of 5 stars Red Bull Energy on CD
I have been a fan of RHV since "Shut the F*ck Up and Dance." I got a chance to see him live last year in Wisconsin. It is true that his mixes are all high energy. This CD is no different. It's like a Red Bull on CD, it gives you wings.

Although I am partial to his later mixes than early ones, it is easy for me to say this is easily RHV's best album to...

3.0 out of 5 stars dissapointing floor funk
When I first put in the cd I was expecting the usually fast paced adrenaline start and then gradually slowing down but this cd wasnt that. It just didnt have the usual Vission sound to it. His first 2 cd's (shut the f*ck up and dance & damn that dj made my day) were both great cd's but this cd was just alright. I guess its a good thing that dj's can change their sound...

5.0 out of 5 stars Red Bull Energy on CD, December 21, 2004
This review is from: Big Floor Funk (Audio CD)
I have been a fan of RHV since "Shut the F*ck Up and Dance." I got a chance to see him live last year in Wisconsin. It is true that his mixes are all high energy. This CD is no different. It's like a Red Bull on CD, it gives you wings.

Although I am partial to his later mixes than early ones, it is easy for me to say this is easily RHV's best album to date. Many other DJs I talk to believe this CD is too "produced." While I agree that it is very produced, you have to look at the purpose of the album. The album is supposed to make you wanna move. Even if you are in your car. If people are looking for a straight live mix they won't find it here. Average listeners who are not DJ's will not be able to tell the difference. It will just sound very precise and complex, which it is. This album breezes through at least 42 different songs split into 30 tracks over the course of 60 minutes. At times there are three or more different tracks going on at once. I give this album five stars because of the production that went into it. There are a few remixes that RHV has credit for along with a few RHV original songs on this album. I think other people should give him more credit for the additional work that went into this mix. He did not just mix a bunch of other people's music here without putting finishing touches on it. There was actually some blood, sweat, and tears before the mix even got started in the studio.

Over all the album does start off a bit slower than his other mixes. I guess that was just his formula this time. He wants to nibble on your ear and get you warmed up a little before he sticks it in. The CD keeps high energy all the way through with massive build ups and incredible intensity.
The drops and mixes are sealed tight. There is a music video which is OK, but that is just extra. There is literally NOT a dull moment on this CD. If you are new to house music I would recommend this CD. If you have never heard of RHV before and listen to house, you have been munching on small potatoes with no gravy and leaving the juicy steak on the stove.

5.0 out of 5 stars RHV DOES IT AGAIN!!!, July 19, 2004

I would have to say that RHV's brand new mix CD Big Floor Funk is a good CD, but not his best. It's not as good as his other CD's like Shut The F@*& Up And Dance, or Drop That Beat. It's actually just as good as Damn That Dj Made My Day. Richard is known for his quick mixing skills and smooth transition from record to record. Which makes his CD's so wonderful to listen too. This one is some what different, the difference is that Big Floor Funk has more of a live feeling to it. Which makes this CD not as smooth as other mix compilations. A perfect example is the accapellas he mixes with. It actually takes a while to get an over all feel for the CD.It does on the other hand have some great music. Like his latest single Never Let Me Down and the video that goes with it is some what out there. Or M.I.S.T vs High Contrast: 3 am, and Antione Clamarans Classika. This CD is a good one but again if your looking for his best work look to pick up a copy of STFUAD. Believe me this is one great pick to add to your house selection but again don't expect a flawless mix just a good one.

5.0 out of 5 stars FEEL THE FUNK!!!, June 11, 2004

This CD is truly amazing. It starts you off and doesn't let you go 'till the end!!! Yes, this is a little different from his previous comps but every DJ's style changes over time as their sound matures.

Anyways, "Big Floor Funk" still has all the funk and beats (even a couple of DnB tracks) to get you moving albeit it's not as thumping as his older stuff. Don't get mistaken though - this is still the same RHV you know and he doesn't disappoint with this one. Highly recommended!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Tastes just like live!, May 3, 2004
This review is from: Big Floor Funk (Audio CD)
Richard Humpty Vission is back with another great CD, but with a difinitive "live" feeling. I've been a fan of Richard since his second CD "Damn that DJ made my day" and he has rocked my world once more. If you like fast paced, high-energy house, this CD is for you. RHV is known all over the US and especially in LA for his super-short perfect mixes and keeping beats hard and fast. Madonna and Enrique Iglesias don't ask him to mix their songs for nothing... this guy is an artist of the highest level.

5.0 out of 5 stars Funk off the Hook, March 13, 2004
This review is from: Big Floor Funk (Audio CD)
I found Big Floor Funk to be outstanding in every aspect. Richard Humpty Vison is a fad maker. This CD bring new age Funkafied house mixed with a disco twist beats to the club scene. Im very proud of his track choosing and this CD was worth every penny i spent on it. House music is a movment that is always changing and improving, this CD meets my clubbing needs of 2004 and introduces a new sound.

4.0 out of 5 stars LITTLE Floor Funk, February 24, 2004
By
trainwrecka (FLower Mound, TX USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Big Floor Funk (Audio CD)
The latest effort by RHV is good - but not the greatest. Older fans of Humpty's know that the hard bass and fast paced mixing he has become famous for should be all over this album. But as DTDMMD got slower and softer than STFUAD - This album makes the same transition from DTDMMD. Fewer tracks and a softer feel overall. The smooth transitions from track to track or track to accapella are not quite as smooth as his previous albums. A lot of vocals seem crammed in or out of place - namely The Jungle Brothers' classic "I'll House You" over the floor-rocking anthem by Smooth & J "Release". I know Humpty has become somewhat of an accapella master, but he is not up to par on vocals here as he should be. This album is still a must have for house fans and is filled with highlights left and right. To name a few - Alex Peace's vocals over track 1, Andrea Doria - Bucci Bag, The mix from track 9-10, Hatiras' "Money Shot", and many many more. This is a CD that should deffinantly be in your collection, but do not expect to be WOW-ed this time around.

4.0 out of 5 stars See above, February 28, 2004
This review is from: Big Floor Funk (Audio CD)
I agree with the previous reviewer of this cd. This cd doesn't so much beat you into submission as his previous cd's have and I think that's what I was looking forward to. On the other hand I can definetely appreciate this lighter house sound as well. He superbly mixes from track to track and fits a ton of tracks into a tiny space. I can't wait to see him "live" again.
