This review is from: Flora of Louisiana: Watercolor Drawings by Margaret Stones (Hardcover)
Margaret Stones is one of the world's foremost botanical artists. Her work ranks alongside John J Audubon's Birds of America in terms of scope, place in history, and contribution to preserving the images of native flora the world over. In 1976 she started work on drawing the flora of Louisiana. The project was to commemorate both the US Bicentennial and the 50th anniversary of the State University of Louisiana's presence on its Baton Rouge Campus. The resulting Flora of Louisiana is a stunning masterpiece and a must-have for all those interested in collecting botanical illustrations, as well as a valuable resource for the gardener of Louisiana native plants.
