Very thin book. Not much content.Black and white pictures take the depth out of the sample carvings. Only 1 picture per carving. All of the patterns are vertical, not one horizontal carving or pattern. You can probably get better patterns for free off the internet. Instuctions are minimal at best. Not much time or investment went into composing this book. It shows!!

Short book with interesting patterns. Each pattern has short narrative with some guidance on grain pattern. But lacks instructions or how to guidance. Great little pattern book for beginners like me.

I was disappointed with this book. Its not really very good for beginners. The patterns are kind of ugly and the instruction are not well defined and only about a paragraph long. I wont be tackling these patterns for a while. The description said this book is good for beginners but I have to disagree, unless you have a little experience behind you, you wont do so well with the instructions. I think people who have some experience will do fine with this book though.
