Essential for outdoor types,
By Deborah Dallas (Gainesville, Florida) - See all my reviews

I'm on my second copy, the first one is worn to shreds. This gazetteer gives me the confidence to head down any jeep trail. This map has everything from boat ramps to bike routes.

Excellent reference for the back roads traveler,
By A Customer
This review is from: Florida Atlas and Gazetteer (State Atlas & Gazetteer) (Paperback)
This book contains the entire state of Florida divided in small geographic portions. All roads within each area are shown; major highways, secondary roads, and minor back country roads. This is an excellent tool for the weekend traveler that is tired of the everyday routes most people take. Plan a relaxing drive through the country and enjoy the area around your own home town, or explore the not-so-popular areas of the Sunshine State. I wish they would publish these for more states.

For finding places in Florida of great outdoor excitement and fun , you cannot beat this publication. Golf courses, lakes, boat ramps, parks, historical sites, beaches and best of all, secondary roads that will take you to these interesting places in the far corners of Florida. This is the most interesting and informative atlas that I have ever owned.

Great but not as helpful as Maine Gazetteer,
By Edson Graham (Wilbur by the Sea, FL USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Florida Atlas and Gazetteer (Florida Atlas & Gazetteer) (Paperback)
The DeLorme series of gazetteers are the the best maps you can get for just about any state in the country. I use the Florida and Maine gazetteers extensively and have gotten so I can't do without them. The Maine Gazetteer has a section of City Street Maps which includes detailed maps of 23 of Maines largest cities. The Florida Gazetteer doesn't have this section requiring purchase of additional city maps. I also find it curious that public colleges in Florida are not identified but they are in Maine. Great , but could be better.

This used issue of the Delorme Florida Atlas was from 1987, which is really old and outdated. I really needed something more current for my work with the Civil Air Patrol, but the description did not state its age. Let the buyer beware! I eventually was able to purchase a new one at WalMart.
