THIS BOOK IS FILLED WITH IMPORTANT INFORMATION THAT WILL HELP YOU FIND A RESIDENCE IN A COMMUNITY WHERE YOU WILL BE HAPPY FOR A LIFETIME. MANY OF MY FRIENDS HAVE FOUND A HOME,APARTMENT OR CONDO WHERE THEY ARE VERY SATISFIED,BUT ONLY AFTER TWO OR THREE MOVES.THIS BOOK HELPED ME DO IT IN MY FIRST MOVE.FLORIDA IS UNLIKE MOST STATES BECAUSE OF THE RAPID GROWTH OF NEW AND OLDER CITIES,TOWNS, AND HOUSING DEVELOPMENTS.THE AUTHORS HAVE GIVEN US THE WAYS TO GET INFORMATION,FACTS, AND WHAT QUESTIONS TO ASK BEFORE WE MAKE A DECISION OF WHERE TO MOVE.THIS BOOK TELLS IT ALL!

Less than honest Florida developers and seminar presenters will fear this book. Why? Because it makes you, the reader, a very wise consumer, and very knowlegable about choices and options that you will have to make and take as a future Floridian. The book emphasizes that Florida is a very different place from all other states. It is rich with much Florida information and facts about home and community choices. The authors are independent and have no special interest in what or where you buy. What they do, is to give you the facts as they are related to Florida relocation and home buying. Frankly, the chapter on types of communities and life styles to be found in Florida, made my wife and I change our priorities when we made our final Florida home purchase. If you're seriously considering relocating to Florida: don't leave home without this book.

The Monners book was decidedly interesting in that it descibed how to and where to look for property and living areas in Florida -- if you followed their parameters and knew your own. It is a common-sense book that guides you through the thicket of Florida properties that could be treacherous for the unwary purchaser. The book is succinct and well written. I recommend it to anyone interested in purchasing or renting in Florida.

This book tells it as it is--in simple, easy-to- understand language. Not only did the book open my eyes to important facts I needed to know, it told me how to obtain further information. Most important, it brought to light many of the critical choices I would have to make when relocating to Florida, and it reminded me of some of the situations I should consider. As the authors say, this book will keep you from wasting money and time. I recommend it.

Despite the mixed reviews, I decided to purchase this book. I felt the substantive positive reviews outweighed the negative quips and I took a chance. It has been years since I moved and my knowledge of Florida was pretty much limited to the fact that "Florida is warm in the winter."

I found the book to be an excellent starting place to get a fundamental understanding of Florida, its diversity, its problems and its options, etc. I especially like that it is written in layman's language and that it gave me a "heads up" on many things. I never realized that parts of Florida do get quite cold in the winter, or that wildlife can become a problem depending on which piece of property you choose in a subdivision. The book is filled with many helpful hints.

If you are looking for opinions, ratings and statistics, you will need to go further than this book. For me, this book was sufficient. I am presently following one of the many bits of advice in the book and began my Florida relocation as a renter while searching for my piece of Paradise!

I liked this book because it was easy to read and understand. I don't have the time or the inclination to do a lot of research about Florida. This book showed me some of the possibilities that are open to me and helped me to think about what I really want. There was a lot of good, common sense advice about moving (in general) as well as specifically about Florida, As someone who is contemplating a move to Florida in the near future, I found this book to be an excellent starting place for anyone seriously interested in a move to Florida.

As other customers expressed in their reviews, this book lacks any depth. I was looking for detail information to help my parents in their move to Florida. Instead, I felt they could have wrote this book. Save your money, please. This book is not worth [the money]. It's not even worth the cost of a magazine. It's full of vague or general information that any average American already knows.

I initially thought when I saw the title of this book that it would be negative about the state of Florida. Actually, it's a very positive book about Florida, but it does warn you about problems you could incur if you are not aware of many of the unique differences involved in choosing a location in Florida.

What I especially liked about this book is that it didn't attempt to tell me what to buy or where to live. I will be moving almost three thousand miles to Florida, so I originally asked some friends and relatives what they thought was a good location and life style. Need I say that they all had me choosing a location near them.

It's not easy making a long distance move and having to make critical choices and decisions in terms of location and building. This book left me with a lot of questions to ask builders and real estate people. Yes, it did make me "aware." In fact, it made me think about things I would never have thought of on my own.

I will be moving very shortly to my new home, in a community that I chose because it matches my interests. Had I listened to my friends and relatives, I may not have looked in the areas and directions that I finally pursued. This book says that you can find paradise in Florida. I think I have! My sincere thanks to the authors of this provacative and informative book.

This book is very generic and could be about many areas. The sections of the book that are about on Florida are very vague.
These Florida information sections could fill maybe one page.
Truly this book was the least helpful book I have read about Florida, and it is supposed to be about relocating there?
This book is really not going to help find that perfect location.
It has some good points about moving, but they could easily be about Texas, or Marylans, or Hawaii.
Do you self a favor and stay away from this book, a complete waste of money.

I was really disappointed in this book. It is really an extended magazine article rather than a book. It would have made a very good introduction to the book I was really hoping to see.

There were broad statements with no supporting specific information. And when, as the authors acknowledge, you have a state as varied as Florida is, you must have the details to figure out what each of the topics means in your geographic area(s) of interest in the state.

For example, they discuss flood zones and then tell you to go look at a FEMA map to see the flood zones, rather than providing (a) at least a general map and/or (b) information on just how to obtain this map from FEMA. Unfortunately, this example is typical. There are very few pointers to help you to research a specific area(s) of the state in which you have an interest.

Even if they cannot include maps or other hard area-specific data, they could at least give you web sites to visit for more details ... along with tips on how to best use the web sites. But even this sort of pointer is missing.

As an introduction, interspersed with references to details in the rest of the book, this would be good. But it does not have those details. And as a book on its own -- without the details, it left me with far more questions than answers.
