Book Description

Second volume of the indispensable saddle-bag Florida reference.

"An excellent guide for both out of state vacationers and locals looking for a new place to ride."--Traci Woodard, Sunshine State Horse Council

"A great book filled with all the latest information needed about your next trail destination. I wouldn’t leave home without this book; in fact, I would keep it in my horse trailer."--Chris Littlefield, Southern Trailriders Association member

Written with both the experienced and the casual rider in mind, Florida on Horseback II offers more of what readers loved in Florida on Horseback, both written by equestrian Cornelia Bernard Henderson. This volume covers all of the available trails, state parks, beaches, and horse rental venues from of Ocala--the unofficial “horse capital of the world”--north to the state line, east to Jacksonville, and west to Pensacola.

Adventures abound, including Big Shoals State Park, Devil’s Hammock, Eglin Air Force Base Property, and Mickler's Beach. The guide is a handy companion for an experienced rider's weekend kit, or an amateur's library. And for those without horses of their own, suggestions on nearby horse rental venues are included.

Henderson provides an overview of the Florida ecology riders will encounter in their travels, as well as a profile of each destination. Florida on Horseback includes directions, maps, photographs, and thorough descriptions of facilities and trails. A quick reference rating system and icons for important factors such as sun exposure, difficulty level, and camping accommodations makes this a must-have guide for trail riders and horse campers. Whether you’re a local exploring some of the state’s wilderness or a tourist looking to gallop along a beach, Florida on Horseback will help you enjoy the millions of acres in the state open to riding.

Great book, tells you all you need to know about horseback riding and camping in Florida. I also have the original book (Florida on Horseback), they are both great books. The original book is about places to ride in South Florida and this book is about places in Northern Florida.

Great information inside the guide. I'm definitely using it to check out riding destinations in my immediate area and then building up my horse's tolerance for longer trailer rides for places greater than a two hour trip. Clearly the trails were researched first hand and notes are made about drinking water, restrooms, and camping. Cannot imagine what else an equestrian would need to know where to go in Florida for a great ride!
