More About the Author

Freya Rauscher graduated in Anthropology from the University of Arizona and completed research in Medical Anthropology and Mesoamerican Archeology. She holds a Master 100-ton Coast Guard Captain's license and has logged over 60,000 nautical miles cruising the Caribbean Sea and North Atlantic. Freya was the spinnaker designer for Hood Sails and later worked for North Sails in Florida. She is currently teaching high school math and science. Freya, and her husband Tom, built a custom 33-foot sloop, and now cruise aboard their 42-foot Kadey Krogen trawler.

"We first sailed this coast in 1984 as participants in the St. Petersburg to Isla Mujeres Race. The inspiration for this guidebook came shortly after discovering that the entire coast desperately lacked good harbor charts to show cruising yachtsmen where to go and how to get there safely. We have logged over 8,000 nautical miles exploring this coast, personally investigating every pass, channel and anchorage suggested in this book."

3.0 out of 5 stars Cruising Guide, April 5, 2008
This review is from: Florida Keys and Everglades Cruising Guide (Paperback)
The guide has a lot of useful information, but it is organized in a manner that I found difficult to use, particularly for planning purposes. It would have been useful to have some regional maps to better orient the reader.
