5.0 out of 5 stars Made our vacation
Thanks to this book we had a vacation of a lifetime. The author's knowledge of bike routes is unsurpassed. He took us to the Everglades where we counted 137 aligators as we rode by them. Also, he knew all the great parts of the bike lane from Key Largo to Key West. We traveled on all of them using his recommendations. When we got to the end of the good parts we did a...

2.0 out of 5 stars Could be better
This book gives a very good description of what one can see along the trails but lacks information on intermediate trail access other than what the authors calls the 'Trailhead'. Perhaps some people want to start on the other end or in the middle but there is no description on how to get there. In this age of GPS units in almost every vehicle, GPS coordinates for trail...

This book has very detailed descriptions and good maps of Florida's paved bike trails. It's great for anyone who is looking for places to ride, whether you're trying to stay away from traffic or planning a trip.

This book gives a very good description of what one can see along the trails but lacks information on intermediate trail access other than what the authors calls the 'Trailhead'. Perhaps some people want to start on the other end or in the middle but there is no description on how to get there. In this age of GPS units in almost every vehicle, GPS coordinates for trail access points are a necessity but none are listed. Some people run shuttles in order to do sections of trails only one way but there is no help, especially for folks that come from far away to ride these trails. The maps are adequate at best. The Office of Greenways & Trails brochures are much better in listing access directions.

4.0 out of 5 stars no Florida map, March 27, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I only went on 2 paths described in this book. Both descriptions were adequate, interesting, with historical background, and the trail maps were nice and clear. The West Orange Bike trail has a beautiful nature preserve going to Lake Apopka accessible by foot from the trail, which surprisingly was not mentioned. Also, there was no map of Florida to show where the different trails were.

4.0 out of 5 stars Useful Guide to Paved Bike Paths in Florida, January 9, 2012
This review is from: Florida's Paved Bike Trails, Second Edition (Paperback)
This updated version of Florida's Paved Bike Trails, 2nd edition, provides the cyclist with a variety of places to bike in Florida. The newer edition was very helpful to plan weekend bike trips around Florida, as we knew what to expect in advance.

Helpful descriptions of the trails, although a few more illustrations would improve the book a bit. However, overall this is a very useful guide to a variety of paved bicycle trails througout Florida.

I have used this book in conjunction with other books on Florida's bike trails.

My girlfriend bought this book for her parents. They really enjoyed it. The only bump is that it doesn't have a map of the state, so they bought one for 2 bucks at a bookstore and put both in their bike bag.
