Not one of Jimmy's most popular or well-known, but this 1986 release is an all-time favorite of mine. This is the album I listen to when I'm alone and I want to be alone. This album puts me in a comatose state where bittersweet sadness washes over me. This collection of songs is mostly on the sad-side, but if you gotta look back now and then with regret, this is the soundtrack.

1. I love the now - A good, foot tapping opener.

2. Creola - A long song measuring at exactly 7 minutes. A perfect tune to zone out to as you watch the smoke rise from whatever it is you're smoking.

3. First Look - It will remind you of her.

4. Meet me in Memphis - This will too.

5. Nobody Speaks to the Captain no more - A song of regret and loss. Nice mix of beach music feel with saxophones.

6. Floridays - I can just play this one over and over and over. God I miss home

7. If it all falls down - It has for most of us. Just open another bottle and wash it down and away.

8. No plane on Sunday. - A predicament we'd love to be in. If only she was really there.

9. When the Coast is Clear - One of my all time Jimmy favorites. I've already put in my will that when they dump my ashes on Siesta Key, they'll play this song at my funeral.

10. You'll never work in dis bidness again - This is a good song, but doesn't really fit in with the feel of the rest of the album. It's uplifting and if you've ever tried your hand at a musical career, this is right up your alley.

See ya on the beach!

next to Changes in Latitudes-Changes in Attitudes, this is the best Buffett album in the entire 30+ year span of his music. If your job allows it, take it and play it there, you'll be guaranteed a day that goes by at a much more plesant pace. This CD spans the Buffett slant on Rock, Creole, Beach Music, Soul, Ballads and his songs about life in general. If "No Plane On Sunday" doesn't tell the best beach love story ever, I don't know what does. Don't forget to search out the Don Blanding book of Florida Poetry which was the inspiration for this CD-"Floridays"ÿ

This album epitomizes the good life of fine beach living. For anyone who lives on the Emerald Coast, this album is a must. For most everyone else, this album may not quite make sense. Whenever I am feeling homesick, all I need to do is put this disc in my player and I am immediately transported back to the swamps, the fine white sands and the crystal clear waters... along with all of its inhabitants (two legged, four legged and finned.)

The title track is reminiscent of his tales SON OF A SON OF A SAILOR and PIRATE LOOKS AT 40. NOBODY SPEAKS TO THE CAPTAIN NO MORE is one of his most beautiful songs resplendit in its depiction of life after the heroics have gone. CREOLA is a warm, colorful depiction of family life on the bayous. WHEN THE COAST IS CLEAR details just what my mind and heart feels as the summer fades into winter... the loneliness, the introspection and the memories of Floridays gone by.

If Jimmy Buffett were to release more albums like this (or CHANGES IN LATITUDES/ CHANGES IN ATTITUDES) he would be among my favorite musicians... but as it stands, I am not a fan of his 'living the high life'/ pseudo-western influenced songs. This album is about the intrinsic serenity (and the extrinsic confusions) of FLORIDAYS!!! I just wish he would release a remastered version of this hard to find, misunderstood classic.

FLORIDAYS is one of Mr. Buffett's absolute, hands down BEST! This CD is for True Jimmy Buffett fans only! If you are a "Parrothead" of the Why Don't We Get Drunk and Cheeseburger groove, you might be disappointed. But if you are ready to discover the gen-u-ine Buffett, this is a good primer. Spin this CD, sit back, close your eyes and I promise you'll hear the ocean waves and feel the warmth of the sun............mmmmmm........Floridays...........

I think Jimmy's better albums were the ones from early on in his career. His albums from the mid to late 80s were not is best in my opinion. However, this is probably his best album from that period, with the album getting stronger as it goes along. This might not be the best CD for someone looking to add Jimmy Buffett to their collection, but one all fans must own.

"Floridays" is another one of Jimmy's albums that often seems to get looked over by fans, but there is some really strong material to be found here and it deserves more respect than it gets. This is one of those albums that does not blow you away upon first listen, but rather creeps up on you the more you give it a chance. Several of these songs have a lot of subtle charm that you don't necessarily catch right off the bat. "Creola", "First Look" and the title track "Floridays" all fit this category. When I first heard the album I did not really like any of them, but now they are some of my favorite tracks on the album. "If It All Falls Down" is the only cover tune on the album, but it fit's Jimmy perfectly. "No Plane On Sunday", and "When The Coast Is Clear" are both solid songs. The highlight of the album has to be "Nobody Speaks To The Captain No More". Buffett has a history of songs telling the stories of colorful senior citizens and this one ranks right up with his best. The lyrics are rather sad and depressing which is not typical of most Buffet songs, but this one is a very poignant piece of music. The only real weak points on the album are the opening and closing tracks "I Love The Now" and "You'll Never Work In This Business Again". "Floridays" is definitely one of Buffett's most underated albums.
