If you are interested in shoes that evoke that sartorial old school spirit, you can't beat saddle shoes. I typically stay with Allen Edmonds but they are after all, pricey. I was surprised at the level of craftsmanship of the Florsheim's, which I found comparable, and much less expensive. A well-made and handsome shoe!

I expected more of a contrast between the burgundy and the black, but then I'm color blind and to achieve the desired look will polish the non-black segments with cordovan and wax the black blacker. Very sharp shoes, nevertheless. Superior support and comfort.

I bought a pair of these dress saddle shoes almost 10 years ago at a Florsheim outlet store. They were about half this price, but it was an outlet store. The shoes were very hard to break in but once I did thay have become comfortable and long lasting. I resoled them with neolite and a rubber heel, as I have a policy of only repairing shoes only once. But when these are worn out I will buy a pair of these (albeit at twice the price, but everything costs more).
