I love the classic wing tip shoes they seem to always be in style. I wanted a Semi formal brown shoe that was different, and I found it in there combination Cognac leather and cognac suede shoe. I felt by having the leather and suede combination it would take it out of the dress shoe category and put it in the semi formal or even casual category, which is what I was looking for.
This shoe is totally all leather inside and out. It has a cushioned heel and arch support inside. The leather was soft and comfortable from the first time I wore them. They come with two soft cloth shoe covers with draw strings to protect them from scratches. So far I am quite satisfied with these shoes and would recommend them if this is the type shoe you are looking for.
The Florsheim Marlton Wingtip Oxford comes in 7 different styles if this one does not appeal to you.
These shoes are of low quality... think Nunn Bush or lower.
I was initially worried with the fit: I typically wear 12.5 US sized shoes, but I can fit into size 12E US shoes; the perils of having wide feet. There's a little bit of space (~.5 in) between my toes and the tip of the shoe, but in terms of width, these shoes fit great.
I'm also moderately impressed by the design of the shoe. When I saw the leather detail of the shoe, I was afraid that I would see a lot of creasing or scuff marks on my shoe. After walking around a few times in the shoe, I realized that the suede upper of the shoe is there to mitigate any issues of creasing. They may not look as good as a full-leather pair of oxfords because of the clear distinction of texture between suede and leather, but man, the functionality of the suede works just fine with me.
All in all, a solid buy. Thus far, I cannot attest to the functionality of the shoe, but I shall update the review in 3 months and 6 months detailing how the shoes has held up.
I felt that the topline of the shoe is a little high and it might graze the bones in your ankles if you flex them at an angle which is a little uncomfortable but as far as regular walking is concerned, they don't seem to be an issue.
Despite its quality, the vamp of this shoe formed creases on the first day of walking. This is inevitable with shoes but I didn't expect it to be so fast. However, a shoe tree works wonders here and helps to minimise the creasing. Stress/scratch marks seem to form quite early as well.
Regardless, this shoe still looks fine and classy. I wouldn't mind wearing it the whole day as it looks and feels great.
