A Treat For Dog Lovers,
By Terrie (Little Chute, WI USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Floss (Paperback)
This short simple story of a young Border Collie learning her craft in English sheep country is beautifully illustrated and will win the hearts of any dog lover, particularly one lucky enough to know Border Collies themselves. When her elderly owner gives her to his son she must make the transition from a town dog with little responsibility to a working country dog. She longs to play with the farmer's children but her job keeps her busy. The artist's wonderful examples of canine body posture and facial expressions speak volumes. Check it out and discover how Floss adjusts to her new life. I think you'll really enjoy it as I did.

Realistic story about a border collie that must learn control and focus in order to work as a sheep dog. Fun, easy reading for any child who loves dogs...especially fun for those who have or know a border collie!

Life on the farm,
By
This review is from: Floss (Paperback)
My son enjoyed this book. He is a city boy and has never even visited a real farm. He enjoyed learning with Floss about how the dogs herd the sheep and watch over them. He also liked to "watch" Floss play soccer with the children. The illustrations are realistic and very beautiful.

As a Border Collie owner I just find this series of books just right to enjoy on a cold evening when just a quick read takes you 'away' from the days thoughts. A book for all ages of Border Collie lovers.

This book was enjoyable, but nothing special. It was almost a bit sad. As a dog owner and teacher I didn't see any value in this book as an educational tool or overly enjoyable storyline.

Cute book, but make sure you note the size. this book is no more than the stated 3x5. I didn't even look at that part of the description, so it was my fault. Just make sure you're aware of that.

Our local library did not have this book in circulation for my daughter to read as part of her literature lesson so we ordered it. She loved the story. She is in first grade. It was challenging enough phonetically without being too hard, so she was able to read it herself. We are glad to make it part of our library.
