Haven't had any more floods to use this for but I used my neighbors twice in March to pump out the basement and it worked GREAT!

The Little Pump that Could...,
By Kevin (Flagstaff, AZ) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Flotec FP0S1300X-03 Tempest 1/6 HP 1,470 GPH Utility Submersible Pump (Tools & Home Improvement)
I have a pond that holds about 14,000 gallons of water. I hooked up a fifty foot ¾ inch hose to the pump. I then broke the ice that was on the top of the water, tied the pump into a plastic create to keep it upright as well as off of the bottom and threw it in. I plugged it in and away it went.
The hose was going up about six vertical feet and the rest of the hose was stretched out to the side. The instructions say to not leave it unattended, but it was only eighty dollars so I figured if it had any issues it was worth the one time cost to drain the pond. I came back a day later and the pond was empty. The pump was not running so I figured it had burned itself out. I gathered everything up and headed for the garage, I plugged the pump in again to test it and it started right up. The manual says it has an automatic shut off if it overheats so it must have kicked on and off a few times overnight. Like I said before it was worth it for a one time usage, but it looks like this thing has plenty more life left in it. Update: 5-5-11 I have a five thousand gallon tank and I didn't want it to freeze this last winter. I threw the pump in the tank in December and let it run nonstop. I checked it every couple of weeks to see if it was still running. I pulled it out in the middle of March and it was still running fine. It was able to run nonstop for about three and a half months without any issues.

Flotec submersible sump pump is junk,
This review is from: Flotec FP0S1300X-03 Tempest 1/6 HP 1,470 GPH Utility Submersible Pump (Tools & Home Improvement)
I just retrieved my Flotec submersible sump pump from my water collection area. The pump had stopped working, tripping the GFCI receptacle through which it is powered. The pump was submerged under the collected water. When I pulled it up to see if the impeller was stuck, a lot of very fine oil ran out. I tried power-cycling it with immediate trips of the GFCI. I brought it into my garage to look at it and all 4 bolts on top of the housing were very rusted. I used a hose to wash the rust off and the bolts were so rusted that two of the bolt heads fell off just under water pressure. What a cheaply engineered product. Flotec must be very proud of their "submersible" pump with bolts that rust out and seals that don not seal. I'll never own another one and I'd advise against anyone's buying one.
