A Great Study of the Tools of TPS,

Following Hirano's other classics 5 Pillars of the Visual Workplace and JIT Implementation Manual, this book covers all the bases in describing how to implement a lean transformation of the shop floor. Unlike Shingo, Hirano is known as a great teacher and communicator, and he does a great job of describing how and why to use the core tools. As an interesting sidelight, the first part of the book has his fascinating insight into current manufacturing trends, and the last part of the book has two discussions between Norman Bodek, Eric Hager, and Pascal Dennis on standardized work and hoshin kanri.
