5.0 out of 5 stars Flow Measurement: Practical Guides for Measurement and Control, August 14, 2009
This review is from: Flow Measurement: Practical Guides for Measurement and Control (Practical Guides for Measurement and Control,) (Hardcover)
I bought this title and I am very satisfied because this is a very comprehensive book on flow measurement, covering a variety of principles of measurement, despite having not a focus in the final corrected flow, as the measurement guys likes, but only in the flow in observed conditions (pressure, temperature, etc.), like the instrumentation guys likes. I think on this book is a necessary and good part to be completed by another book focused on flow or volume correction to get a complete ideal of measured quantities under rated conditions.

5.0 out of 5 stars A good introductory reference on the fundamentals of Flow Measurement and Flowmeters Technology, July 9, 2006
This review is from: Flow Measurement: Practical Guides for Measurement and Control (Practical Guides for Measurement and Control,) (Hardcover)

This volume is part of the Practical Guides Series developed and published by ISA (formerly "The Instrument Society of America", later "The International Society for Measurement and Control" and now known as "The Instrument, Systems and Automation Society"). The Practical Guides were concived to bridge the gap between theory and actual practice, and the stress is placed on the actual experience of measurement and control practitioners.

I own this book, it's A good introductory reference on the fundamentals of Flow Measurement and Flowmeters Technology, presented in a practical language.

This book is organized as follows:
- Why measure flow.
- Historical perspective.
- Physical properties of fluids.
- Fundamentals of flow measurement.
- Linearization, compensation and totalization of flow signals.
- Field calibration.
- Installation and maintenance.
- Differential pressure flowmeters.
- Magnetic flowmeters.
- Mass flowmeters.
- Open channel flow measurement.
- Oscilatory flowmeters.
- Positive diplacement flowmeters for liquid measurement.
- Target flowmeters.
- Thermal mass flowmeters and controllers.
- Tracer dillution measurement of flow.
- Turbine flowmeters.
- Ultrasonic flowmeters.
- Variable area flowmeters.
- Insertion (sampling) flow measurement.
- Custody transfer measurement.
- Sanitary flowmeters.
- Flowmeter selection.
- Flow metrology: standards, calibrations, and traceabilities.
- Standards in flow measurement.
- Flowmeter specifications.

If you need more in-depth information, or if you specify, install, maintain and operate Flowmeters and other Process Variables Meters, you might also want to consider Bela Liptak's Instruments Engineer's Handbook Volume 1 - Process Measurement and Analysis.

I own both books and they excellent references and very useful in my job. I have been working for more than 16 years as an Instrumentation, Automation, and Process Safety and Control Engineer for the Oil & Gas Industry.

5.0 out of 5 stars Everything you need to know about flowmeters, February 8, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Flow Measurement: Practical Guides for Measurement and Control (Practical Guides for Measurement and Control,) (Hardcover)
This is the only book I know of that thoroughly explains every flow measurement technology. If you ever buy or specify flowmeters, it's a great reference to have.
