5.0 out of 5 stars The Ultimate Flower Essence Guide
I have no hesitations about giving this book 5 stars. It has been so indispensible to me that I owned 2 copies of it for several years (finally gave one away). I actually entered the basic info out of this book into my palm pilot as well, by hand. If you are interested in flower essences, this is the best book I have ever seen on the topic. I have a number of them,...

I have a number of them, but this one is the bible. In three sections, it tells you how these essences work and how to use the book, gives you an index of issues to treat with the remedies and differentiates each one to make it clear which is right. Then the third sections devotes a page to each of the Bach remedies, as well as all the Flower Essence Society remedies from California. The writing is beautiful and accurate, filled with compassion. It is also *precise*, and not all flaky like much of energy medicine theory. Any beginner will have no trouble using this book and understanding the language. As a practitioner, I couldn't do without it. I cannot praise this book and its authors too highly. My remaining copy is battered from use.
If you are a mere dabbler, you may prefer a book that is shorter and less informative. However, I think some of the truth is sacrificed in such books. If you want information on flower remedies from other parts of the world, you will also need to look elsewhere. This is the best place to start, however, in my humble and enthusiastic opinion.

5.0 out of 5 stars More than just a reference book., July 9, 2000

This review is from: Flower Essence Repertory: A Comprehensive Guide to North American and English Flower Essences for Emotional and Spiritual Well-Being (Paperback)
I read this book front to cover. It's a great reference book on Flower Essences, both English and North American, but the discriptions on the actions of each flower are new information on how spirit issues can effect the emotions and the body. I had never read any psychological work that took this perspective and I found it very useful and tremendously insightful. Even if you don't choose to buy the flower remedies, the analysis of the problems and possible causes are often enough to motivate the spirit toward change. Additionally, I'm greatful to the Company who produces these remedies, as they include local flowers to the U.S.A. Dr. Bach said "the cure to your disease lies in your own back yard", yet all that the Bach Flowers offers is from Europe. FES has all the North Amercian Flowers discribed in the book and in flower remedies. I particularly enjoyed looking up my Grandmothers favorot flowers and reading about the issues they assist in. I found that often they spoke to a long term family dynamics that existed for 3 generations, the flower preferrences were the intuitive attempt at my grandmothers cure. It's fun to look up your favorot flowers, and see what issues you may be working on. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in flower remedies, spiritual/emotional issues or thier connection to plant energies. The book is extremely well written and organized. Thanks :-)

5.0 out of 5 stars The One Flower Essence Book to Have, January 12, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Flower Essence Repertory: A Comprehensive Guide to North American and English Flower Essences for Emotional and Spiritual Well-Being (Paperback)
I bought this book and I was not disapointed. I own serveral flower essence books, but this one is the best and the one I cannot do without. It cross references every emotion from feeling disconnected to Mother Earth to Anger to Problems connecting with your father. You name it, it's cross referenced here. The book is timeless and modern at the same time. It has a great introduction on flower essences, the whys and wheretofores, and explains each English (bach) & North American essence in detail and with care and insight. It is a privilage to own this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a Great Book, May 27, 2001
By
This review is from: Flower Essence Repertory: A Comprehensive Guide to North American and English Flower Essences for Emotional and Spiritual Well-Being (Paperback)
I first learned about flower remedies when I read Radical Healing by Rudolph Ballentine. Like many people, I started my explorations of flower remedies with Bach Flower Essences, since I found more information about them on the Internet than the other essences. The Bach essences that I tried had a very positive impact on my life. As I started to want to expand my use of flower essences, however, I began to notice gaps in the Bach repertory. I don't mean to insult Dr. Bach (I still use and love Bach Flower Essences), but it seems to me that his remedies are directed at people from England in the 1930s. The world has changed a lot since then. One day when I was looking for more Bach essences, I found this book in a local health food store. I looked at the middle section (which matches issues to remedies) and selected a new California essence that seemed much more directly on point to my life. I had such a positive experience with the first one that I tried that I went back to the store the next day and bought my own copy of the book. I read the entire book that day, and continue to use it as a valuable reference for me and my friends. Bottom line: Bach Flower Essences are great, but you shouldn't overlook the California essences too. In fact, you might just find the perfect one for you in this book like I did.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Beautiful Book For Anyone Interested in Natural Health, Wellness and Personal Development, February 11, 2007
This review is from: Flower Essence Repertory: A Comprehensive Guide to North American and English Flower Essences for Emotional and Spiritual Well-Being (Paperback)
The whole notion of using flower essences not just for treatment, but to support wellness and even aid psychological and spiritual development may seem illogical.

Except that these flower essences work. The few controlled studies are not strong, but against that is a wealth of experience gained by thousands of patients and practitioners on every continent.

By a strange "coincidence" the publication of this book "coincided" with my final immigration into the United States. After nearly twenty years steeped in the use of the original Bach flower essences created in England and Wales, it seemed only right to see what the plants of the New World had provided for our ever-changing species. Much as I loved my Bach remedies, I felt sure that people on this side of the Atlantic might need something more. So I was interested to see what these New World essences had to offer and I bought my first copy of this book within weeks of my arrival.

I was astonished by what I learned and by the extraordinary work that had been done by Patricia Kaminski, Richard Katz and a small group of dedicated helpers. I soon obtained and started using many of these new remedies and I was - and remain - extremely impressed. I have seen some extraordinary results, despite being a big skeptic.

This is a classic textbook, now thirteen years old. It is beautifully produced and I would be hard pressed to come up with any major improvements.

Though the work is in no way dated, it might be nice to see a new edition, perhaps with plant photographs and more cross tables, to help introduce a new generation to these wondrous treatments.

If you have any interest in natural medicine or wellness, or if you are interested in finding out which essences were provided to help the spiritual practices unique to North America, this book should not just be on your bookshelf, but should quickly become dog-eared from use!

Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars A reference work which is non-pareil in its field., February 27, 1999
This review is from: Flower Essence Repertory: A Comprehensive Guide to North American and English Flower Essences for Emotional and Spiritual Well-Being (Paperback)
This book has cross references on emotional states and flower essence possibilities which expands the original work done by Edward Bach. Anyone interested in this discipline or just wanting to pinpoint their own feelings by reading through the descriptions of possibilities--will find themselves pleasurably immersed in this fascinating book.

5.0 out of 5 stars well worth it, July 13, 2004

This is a must for anyone using flower essences. I have found this book invaluable in my work with myself, my clients, and my pets. It offers clear concise information and several ways to cross-reference making this an easy book to use as well. I also recommend the flower essence survey to help with formulation. It's like an MMPI without the psychiatrist, and you can do this for yourself.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best flower essence book out there period!, September 22, 2002
This review is from: Flower Essence Repertory: A Comprehensive Guide to North American and English Flower Essences for Emotional and Spiritual Well-Being (Paperback)
I have owned this edition as well as the previous edition of this book for quite some time. It is without a doubt the best of the best in terms of information and how to's regarding flower essences. The next edition is due out any time now, and I can't wait to get it. I believe it is supposed to be a two-volume set. It doesn't matter if you are a beginner or experienced in flower essences, this book will become a treasure in your library of flower essence books.

I adore the work of Patricia and Richard, their integrity and love for healing others really shines through this book (and through Patricia's other work Flowers that Heal), it is such a fulfilling read, especially if you don't just read the book but work with using flower essences to help you work on yourself.
