annuals, perennials and bulbs all in one handy reference,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Flower Expert (Paperback)
The combination of color drawings and photographs and clear descriptions make this a must for those just getting serious about flower gardening. The fact that annuals, perennials and bulbs are all included in one portable reference is truely great.

An excellent gardening resource!,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Flower Expert (Expert Series) (Paperback)
The Flower Expert is an excellent resource for the avid gardener. Beginners will benefit from the excellent photos, care descriptions and how the book is organized. Experienced gardeners will appreciate the volume of flowers listed in a slender, compact book making it easy to carry to the local nursey. A definite must have for any amature gardener who wants beautiful, constantly blooming gardens that catch the eye

I have had the houseplant book from this series for many years, and it is my bible for houseplants. I especially love the section on what can go wrong with each specific plant and how to remedy it. So when I finally had an outside garden, I got other books in the series, including this one on flowers. My major complaint is that it is organized by the latin name of flowers (which I never know). You can look up the common names in the index, but it's annoying. I am also disappointed that there is no per-plant commentary on what can go wrong and how to treat it. Instead that topic is a separate 'chapter' in the back, general to all the plants. It's still a useful book, and it's what I refer to if I have questions. I just wish it were more like the old houseplant book's format. I've noticed a lot of plant books' primary use is to identify what kind of plant it is and not focus on care instructions and 'what can go wrong and how to treat that' instructions. This book is better than many I've seen, but still weak in that area.

The NEW Flower Expert (Millennium Edition),
By
This review is from: The Flower Expert (Paperback)
Though I tried to order this book THREE times, I was sent instead The Flower Expert each time. The web site shows THE NEW FLOWER EXPERT.... but do you actually have it in stock? After the second wrong book was received, with the outdated/older edition, I called a customer service representative. She personally called shipping to be sure that I would receive the correct edition. Guess what? I got the same old title back again. Do you have a bunch of i---ts working in shipping? I am unable to review the book as I have not received the one I ordered. (and after three tries, yes you have worn me down) I figure this was a bait and switch. ????????????????? Oh, and contact us doesn't work. How does one get attention to detail and the correct item sent????? e |
