Frankly, I was quite disappointed with the latest addition to the Flower Fairies series of pop-up books. "Flower Fairies Magical Doors" lacks sufficient pop-ups to truly thrill young readers and does not have the visual impact of some of the earlier books in the series, especially the beautifully laid out "How to Find Flower Fairies".

To be fair, this book has more of a story, but the primary attraction in these Flower Fairies books is the artwork and special features such as pop-ups, various hidden clues/doors/ treasures etc. In this book, the premise is that there are various doors behind which fairies hide. Two girls, Grace and Evie have the distinction of being allowed to peep behind these doors and catch a glimpse into the magical world of the flower fairies. There is only one door for each set-up, and the special features are not very impressive - the reader gets brief glimpses of a fairy's foot, a fairy sliding down a slide, a pull-the-tab feature etc.The last page is the most impressive as the double doors open to reveal a fairy ball in full pop-up, but once again, compared to some of the other flower fairies pop-up books, this is not truly spectacular.

As a collector [and also because my 4-year-old loves fairies], I think it's worth getting, if only to collect the entire series, but it is a bit of a letdown compared to the others. Here's my ranking of my favorites in the series:

How to Find Flower Fairies [glorious pop-ups, with intricate details]
Flower Fairies Magical Moonlight Feast [the final page reveals a beautiful light-up scene]
Fairyopolis: A Flower Fairies Journal
Return to Fairyopolis [the weakest in the series, in my opinion].

I hope future Flower Fairies books are produced with more attention to detail and special pop-up features.

Paging through this gem of a pop-up bookFlower Fairies Magical Doors, I am totally drawn into author Cecily Barker's enchanting Flower Fairie world. I have always been a fan of Ms. Barker's lovingly conceived and beautifully illustrated 'world of faerie' and this new
offering completely seals my admiration. Feeling a little like a youngish schoolgirl, i giggled and 'awwwed' my way
through the 3D vignettes, each page more wondrous than the
last, before reaching the totally superb view presented in
the last illustration. A book to be treasuresd and shared.

This is the 4th fairy book I've purchased by Cicely Mary Barker and each one is more beautiful than the last. They are all exceptional and a bargain at the Amazon price. I would highly recommend them.

The "Flower Fairies Magical Doors" book made a wonderful gift for my granddaughter and two great-nieces. All three girls were entranced with the "doors" behind which the fairies are hidden. This book is beautifully illustrated, and has held up well to being read by an enthusiastic 5-year-old. The mothers of the little girls also were impressed by the book.Flower Fairies Magical Doors

My 5-year-old loves this magical book. She likes to knock on each of the fairy doors and often gasps at the fairies hiding behind the doors. This book is just what a good fairy book should be-innocent, enchanting, and little surprises sprinkled throughout the pages.

I bought this book for my niece and what an delightful tale. Great pictures and sliding doors. Fun book to read.

Once again, Cicely Mary Barker has captured the imaginations of little girls! I have bought her series of Fairy books for my granddaughter from the time she was about seven until now at eleven. She loves these books! She thinks they are the most beautiful books in the world. I have also purchased these books as gifts for a neighbor's little girl and she has the same reaction. I would highly recommend any or all in this series by this author!!!

These fairy books are just wonderful! I thoroughly enjoy reading them to my granddaughter and she loves them as well. A wonderful series from Cicely Mary Barker. I would highly recommend them for anyone who loves fairies!

Need I say more? If you are familiar with Barker's work expect to be awed again. Just beautiful and magical.

Received the product very promptly and very satisfied with it. Bought it for my granddaughter because of the pop-ups. I think she will enjoy opening each page and see what lies behind each of the hidden doors. Very well done.
