Great kid's CD and it isn't mind-numbing! lol,
This review is from: A Flower Fairy Alphabet (Audio CD)
Both my 6 and 3 year old daughteres love this CD. The music is well done and even my husband and I enjoy listening to this CD. That is rare since most kid's CDs can be mind numbing! lol The songs are soft enough to let them listen to before bed but also engaging enough for playtime.

My daughter absolutely loves this CD! I put her to bed with it playing, she asks for it every night. It's soft music, either sung by kids or a lady - a few tracks aren't as soft, but it's an easy transition. The fairy story-songs entertain me too (I don't get too tired of listening to it over and over).

We LOVE this charming, beautiful, adorable CD. The music has gentle melodies along with the lovely voices of children and adults. I bought this to play at my daughter's pixie and elf party. I now listen to it while I'm working or put it on while she's painting, playing, etc. I can't recommend it enough as a gift OR for your personal collection, whether you have children or not.

My five year old daughter and I adore this CD. The words are by the great fairy illustrator and poet Cicely Mary Barker. The music is sung by various women, children, and men. It all flows together very well.
The beautiful melodies sound to me to be Renaissance inspired with among others instruments...acoustic guitar, glockenspiel, violin, recorders, transverse flute, Celtic harp, zither, and penny whistle. The CD packaging is a treat, too. All the lyrics are there among many of examples of Barker's whimsical paintings in a nice booklet. This CD is especially great during quiet play, bedtime, or as background music during story time. I encourage all parents of young children to listen to the samples Amazon provides. They are all very beautiful. Adults will love it too.

My daughter, just turned 5, LOVES the flower fairies. This seemed like a logical birthday gift. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the music and voices. I'm no musical expert, but the style seems Elizabethan ,or similar. After playing it twice, my daughter already sings along - it's brought the fairy illustrations to life for her. Very charming, we recommend it!

Thanks for sending this out so quickly! This is my 7 y/o daughter's FAVORITE cd for nighttime listening. We had a copy a few years ago but lost it during a move. I surprised her with a new copy and she is thrilled! Arrived quickly and just as ordered. Thanks for a great product and fast service!

My children and I love Cicely Mary Barker's Flower Fairies, and I was so pleased to find this cd. I was not disappointed. Unlike most children's cd's I thoroughly enjoy listening to this one; it's not annoying as most children's cd's are. The music has a Celtic flair to it, and is very peaceful and soothing; good for car trips, naptime, basically any time.

I adored the books as a child. But the author was English, and I don't think the American voices capture the atmosphere of the books, which resonate of English gardens. I also find that e.g. 'D' is rather saccharine, and I omitted that track when uploading it to my Mac. But then i'm not crazy about untrained children's (singing) voices. Barker's original books managed to avoid being saccharine, which is remarkable really; I think it's because she was such a wonderful artist, so the skill of the paintings ensured them a certain dignity.
Anyway, over all it's a charming CD and I have enjoyed e.g. Tina Malia's singing very much. When my toddler is older, I'm sure she'll love it too.

This recording brings an added dimension of sound to the Flower Fairy Alphabet book. It uses simple but lovely melodies and harmonies that can be understood by a child of any age, with a variety of instruments and moods. I suggest that this recording be purchased with the book, so the child can connect the pictures in the book to the sounds on the recording.

My daughter loves fairies and we checked this out from our local library about a year ago. We kept renewing our loan and my daughter was memorizing the songs and listening to them before bed. She really liked it. I decided it would be a good thing to purchase because she liked it so much.
I am not familiar with the artists on the cd, but am picky about my music and they do a good job. The lyrics are sweet and innocent and there is an accompanying booklet with lyrics and pictures. My daughter enjoyed looking at both. We plan to plant on "fairy flower" in each house we live in and leave behind us a trail of flowers :) |
