5.0 out of 5 stars I Dare You Not to be on the Edge of Your Seat
I came upon this book quite by accident, but am I ever glad that I did.

The subject matter is very disturbing, but this book is very tense, suspenseful and downright scary. I have always said that the scariest books to me are those that could really happen. Unfortunately, the premise of this book can and does happen.

3.0 out of 5 stars A so-so thriller with some redeeming aspects
While very suspenseful in some ways, this book was a bit of a disappointment in the mystery department. As soon as they introduced the character who turned out to be "the bad guy", I knew it had to be him (and for once, I turned out to be right).

The fast-paced action and throat-gripping terror were all I had hoped they would be. However, Anders would have...

I came upon this book quite by accident, but am I ever glad that I did.

The subject matter is very disturbing, but this book is very tense, suspenseful and downright scary. I have always said that the scariest books to me are those that could really happen. Unfortunately, the premise of this book can and does happen.

Beyond being a truly scary read, it also opens your eyes to some very socially relevant issues. It made me check out the statutes in MY state.

I have become a huge fan of Ms. Anders and would buy anything that she would write in the future.

Do yourself a favor and buy this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Draws you in and never lets you go until the last page...., July 11, 1999

What a great book. Anyone who picks this book up will not get up out of their chair until they are finished reading it. Loved the characters and the story was well written and kept you guessing throughout. Love this author. Also just finished her book "Another Life" and it is great too. Wish she had a few more under her belt so that I could just order them and all read them one right after another.

5.0 out of 5 stars Glad I got my local bookstore to order this for me!, March 4, 2005

This book was so suspenseful that I was able to finish it in one sitting. Having a daughter of my own, it is a parents worst nightmare to have your child stalked. It literally gave me chills! I almost did not read it, because of the fact that is was such a real thing and hit too close to home. But, I am glad I did, Ms. Anders has become one of my favorite authors. I have also read Another life, which was awsome, too. You will not be disappointed.

4.0 out of 5 stars A creepy tale, November 2, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: The Flower Man (Mass Market Paperback)
Nine year old Katie has a secret admirer. The problem is, she's the only one who has seen him, and his attention is unrelenting and increasingly sinister. Britt, Katie's mom, believes that something is wrong, but can't convince her husband or the local police that her child is in very real danger. This one is a classic nail-biter that will leave you angry/scared and up all night with the lights on.

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW! PAGE TURNER!, April 19, 1999
This review is from: The Flower Man (Mass Market Paperback)
I actually had to get up and walk off some anxiety while reading this one. The tension gets high at the end, but all through the book you will be checking to make SURE your doors are locked. You will be checking in on your kids too. I loved this book. I can't wait to start Another Life. Two Thumbs way up Donna Anders!!! Keep 'em coming!

3.0 out of 5 stars A so-so thriller with some redeeming aspects, August 22, 2007
This review is from: The Flower Man (Mass Market Paperback)
While very suspenseful in some ways, this book was a bit of a disappointment in the mystery department. As soon as they introduced the character who turned out to be "the bad guy", I knew it had to be him (and for once, I turned out to be right).

The fast-paced action and throat-gripping terror were all I had hoped they would be. However, Anders would have done well to skip the marital tension between the parents. I kept getting distracted from the stalker action by the thought that even if things ended well, their marriage likely wouldn't last too much longer. It took a lot away from the story, and was an unnecessary burden. Now if their relationship had been HAPPY before the stalker, THEN a bit of tension would have livened things up (or if she'd tossed in an affair with the police detective or something...)

All in all, a decent read, but I'm not rushing out to buy the rest of Anders' books. I was mildly entertained, but not impressed. I never once lost myself in the story or felt sick over the fear Britt must have felt as a mother... it just didn't grip me that much.

5.0 out of 5 stars My mind would not rest until I knew my doors were locked..., March 19, 1999

Don't take flowers from strangers! Or candy or anything for that matter. D. Anders in The Flower Man gracefully and sensitively presents one of the most frightening topics one could read about: The Pedophile. Her grasp on the psychopathology of one of the worst kinds of predator could challenge any medical book written on the subject. Once again, her ability to weave a suspensful story had me on the edge of my chair, biting my lips, waiting...The Flower Man is a terrific read!

5.0 out of 5 stars A HOLD YOUR BREATH EXPERIENCE !, February 8, 1999

A whole new experience for me. If you haven't read 'THE FLOWER MAN' you are missing a spine tingeling thriller. It keeps you turning the pages while the dishes wait. I find the escalating suspense a real challenge to keep from peeking at the end to see what happened. Donna Anders is a very talanted writer whom we very much enjoy. Her 'Son of the Morning' to her latest, 'Another Life' are very different, but each are excellent. She is ALWAYS interesting and VERY GOOD READING. We will be buying her books for as long as she writes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Please Don't Bring Me Flowers, October 22, 2004
This review is from: The Flower Man (Mass Market Paperback)
I gave this one five stars as it was a pretty good book.

I did feel that it was about 50 pages too long, some of the parts kind of made me feel like saying "I get it already, move on." But over all, you didn't know who the bad guy was until the end, and the suspense was good. Story was good.

Would recommend as a good read.

what would you do if your daughter was being stalked and it was harmining your whole family and your relationship with your husband Britt is pretty well an ordinary woman caught up in unordinary circumstances! I thought this book was really great.
But the again I haven't read a book by this author I have ever been disappointed in! unfortunately she doesn't have much out!
But when she does I'll be eager to read her new novel!
