I'm Sold on the Pharm,
By
This review is from: Flower Pharm Organic Insecticidal Soap with pure Cinnamon Oil plus Miticide and Fungicide, 33.8 Fluid Ounce Spray Bottle (Pack of 2) (Health and Beauty)
Insecticidal soaps are specially formulated with insect killing properties. They are also safe for most plant species and much safer for the handler than toxic chemicals. Insecticidal soaps kill soft-bodied insects by washing away the protective coating on their bodies and disrupting membrane functions. To work effectively the soap must come in direct contact with the insects. Soap sprayed on the plants has no residual effects on insects. Though the soap may cause foliage burn on some sensitive plants, I've not noticed such reaction.
I don't know if it's the wonderfully aromatic smell of the Flower Pharm or the sight of wriggling caterpillars falling off the plants and fence rails that is more satisfying. A few saturating sprays of Flower Pharm work quickly and visibly. The stricken caterpillars lose their grips, fall to the ground, squirm a bit, and then mercifully die. No, a bottle of insecticidal soap, no matter how potent, is no match for thousands of determined, hungry bugs. However, by consistently treating our most prized plants, we managed to save the majority of them. A few trees fell victim to the caterpillar onslaught, but most survived the unprecedented bug-fest. This spring we have several bottles of Flower Pharm ready to put into combat. Insecticidal soap may not be as potent as many other insecticides, but there is some comfort in knowing such a benign product will help mitigate the insect scourge while not endangering our pets, the birds, the groundwater, or the happy sprayer. Flower Pharm contains no alcohol or antimicrobials.
