5.0 out of 5 stars Blazing Flamenco spiced with Persian, rock, & jazz.
With the release of his first CD, Manuel has leaped to the highest plateau of Rumba, Flamenco, & Latin guitar playing occupied by the elite such as Strunz & Farah, Armik, Lara & Reyes, and Mark Antoine. He's gone to a different level though by bringing in an electric guitar, as in Zingar, into a genre that rarely, if ever, sees it. Each piece is...

2.0 out of 5 stars Innocuous Soft Jazz Version of Flamenco
If you are looking for pleasant background music, this "soft jazz" take on flamenco will do. It is harmless enough, as long as you don't let it dissuade you from listening to the genuine article.

Incredibly captivating! One of the best CD's in this area of music.

5.0 out of 5 stars An incredible depth of feeling and texture.., January 24, 1999

A simply wonderful CD. The variety of moods, rhythms, and textures takes you on a wonderful journey. Some of the tracks are *really* different... and so exciting. "Zingar"... "King of Hearts"... and the final combination of "Flowers in the Desert" followed by "Swan Birthday" never fails to set my heart simply soaring. Very highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars Track #10, builds up to a fantastic explosion of joy, November 5, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Flowers in the Desert (Audio CD)
First time we heard this track, my family was present, wife and kids (2 years old and 6 year old). We ended up all dancing, clapping and laughing. The "moors" tones together with the passionate electric guitar performance was way too much fun. We had to.

What a pleasurable album. Mostly recommended
