I found Flowers for Emily a well written and intriguing tale of suspense and strength! I feel honored to be able to have caught a glimpse inside this writers incredibly talented head yet once again....What a intricate display of twists and turns with her words oozing with such heart...I can't wait for more books from this author!!!! I did not put the book down once I opened it until I was done. Just as wonderfully researched and well written as The Third Son. Can't wait for The Prophecy!

Flowers for Emily embodies everything you need for a page turning murder mystery! Veronica Donavan, aka Ronnie, is a witty, intelligent, sexy, and tough Irish lass working for Scotland yard. She can really pack one hell of punch! Dean Colby is a top notch FBI agent that posses enough wit, charm, and intelligence, that when teamed up together to solve a crime, sparks end up flying!
TL Vance has a style all her own. She makes the novel easy to read, fun and intriguing as well. She also wastes no time capturing the readers attention, which is a good thing. Personally, If you can't capture my attention within the first couple of chapters, then you lost me as a reader. This was simply not the case in this novel! The characters are likable, the mystery is intriguing, and I guarantee, you won't want to put this book down until you've finished it! Follow all the twists and turns to unravel this mystery! You won't be disappointed that you did! Enjoy!

Dr. Veronica Donavan (Roni) has spent the last two years hunting down a serial killer she believes took the life of her little sister, Emily. When Scotland Yard closes the case, she moves to Denver where she believes he has resumed his killing spree.
As the case unfolds, more information comes to light, revealing that Roni holds the key to the whole investigation - and that she may be the killer's intended target. Agent Dean Colby is assigned to protect her, and he moves into her apartment and into her bed. Although neither is looking for love, they can't deny the passion that blazes between them, and discover that love may have found them. Just when you think the case has been solved, the author throws a curveball. The climax will leave you stunned, hoping that Roni can outsmart the killer and find true love after all. A mystery with heart and lots of laughs,
By Armchair Interviews (Minneapolis, MN) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Flowers for Emily (Hardcover)
Veronica Donavan is a forensic pathologist for Scotland Yard, but she has just followed a lead on a serial killer to Denver, Colorado. She is particularly interested in this murderer because her younger sister, Emily, was one of his London victims. However, in an attempt to avoid being kept off the case due to her personal involvement, she doesn't reveal this fact to her Denver team - at least not right away. Soon after she meets her investigating team, the murderer strikes again with the same modis-operendi: strangulation and flowers left with the body of a teen-age girl.
Complicating the investigation for Veronica (Roni) is a member of her team that she met while kickboxing at a local gym. Dean Colby is working on this case and also working on her. Their romance gets off to a steamy start and then he is assigned to guard her, because the killer has insinuated that she is going to be his next victim. This book is fun. The characters are likeable and well developed. For most of the book, I was drawn in like I would be while watching a good TV police drama. I was slightly put-off by the initial sexual encounter because I didn't feel that I knew them well enough to be privy to a rather graphic sex scene. However, it didn't spoil the book for me. I did think that the book could have used a little extra editing at the end. Vance needed to come up with another way to describe feelings than to say "choked with emotion" or a variation of that phrase. It was overused to the point that I started counting the times it came up. Notwithstanding, I would recommend this as an amusing mystery romance. Armchair Interviews says: If you like some good romance mixed with your mysteries, check this book out.

fabulous romantic police procedural,
This review is from: Flowers for Emily (Paperback)
Scotland Yard Inspector Veronica (Roni) Donovan had given up ever finding the serial killer who murdered her sister; her obsession with bringing this animal down also killed her marriage. However, the culprit seemingly vanished as the murders suddenly stopped.
She remains frustrated until he "sends" her his deadly business card from Denver. Apparently, he has surfaced and she plans to help the local police bring this predator down. In Denver before she reports to the cops, she stops for a workout at a gym where she engages and knocks down Dean Colby in a kickboxing match. He is the FBI agent in charge of the serial killing investigation. As they team up, they are attracted to one another; ironically the culprit is also fascinated by Roni as the sister of a victim. She offers herself up as bait over the Fed's objection as he fears he will lose her to this lethal genius. FLOWERS FOR EMILY is a fabulous romantic police procedural starring a tough ass female and an open minded male "matchmake" by a devious killer. The story line is fast-paced as the two law enforcement officials from separate sides of the pond work together to end the murderous reign. The instant attraction seems unnecessary, but does add to the triangle once the killer hones in on Roni. Readers will enjoy this strong thriller with a terrific final twist that should have been obvious, but most aficionados will not see it coming until Monday morning quarterbacking. Harriet Klausner |
