"...I was moving through the silence without motion, waiting for you." Yeah, I started this review quoting Joy Division lyrics, but it's not pretention, they just nicely conveyed some of my sentiments with Flowers and Flames. Fact is, I was indeed " moving through the silence without motion, waiting for you." Waiting for the band to come into existence, waiting for them to discover their own unique sound, waiting for Cindy, their vocalist, to come into my life. All those things needed and were meant to happen. Ya see, in Northeast Ohio in 2006 (and elsewhere for that matter) dark alternative or post-post punk or whatever id tag you care to use for sounds I enjoy bands making, was in a sorry state when Flowers in Flames began. And at about the same time as FIF's inception, I was dwelling in a rather dark place also. Both were predestined, had to happen and did. Now we jump into a time-warp and come to the present: The band has released a fantastic CD, have played quite a number of successful shows, has gotten glowing reviews from a variety of US and International publications and websites. Things are looking good for Flowers in Flames. And despite a few snakes in the grass and some health problems, Cindy and I are also doing quite nicely thankyou. Now, some of you might say, I'll bet that knucklehead who wrote this review is not exactly going to be objective. Maybe, maybe not, buy the CD and you be the judge. Okay, first off, the music sells itself, you just need to let your ears get one little Flowers in Flames soundwave and that's enough. They'll beg for more. Let me break it down for you if you have not heard them. There are actually two vocalists, one male and one female. They kind of have this sound dynamic like John Doe and Exene of the band X.
