5.0 out of 5 stars Problem solver!, July 7, 2002
This review is from: Send Flowers to the Living! Rewards, Contests and Incentives to Build Employee Loyalty (Paperback)
Boy, does Schier know what he's talking about. He wastes little time philosophizing about why employee recognition and retention are important. Instead, he gets right into the how-to, including specific methodology for easy-to-implement contests that should solve several of your worst operational headaches at once. You'll be putting some version of Schier's ideas to work in your place the day after you read his book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Positive recognition is king!, April 14, 2010

All to often managers fall into the mistaken belief that being "mean and ugly" is the most effective way to achieve profitable results for their company. Managers who develop a stern and overbearing (even degrading) attitude towards their employees will do far greater damage than they know. As a result, employees privately & publically resent their managers if they only focus on the "warts" and completely undermine the positive performance that's happening within the walls of the company. When employees are happy, they are more productive and everyone profits.

In this book, TJ Schier does a fabulous job of explaining the importance of creating a culture that is based on positive recognition and creating incentive performance programs. I found the information insightful and very applicable. Anyone that works in management and deals with people would benefit from the principles within.

I think T.J Schier has figured it out!

T.J Schier, In his Book Send Flowers to the Living! has taken a Keep It Simple attitude towards a very difficult subject,Finding and Retaining a Highly Motivated Workforce. He focuses on what truely matters in any succesfull organization, IT'S PEOPLE.

His straightforward approach gives managers tools and idea's that help grow and retain your employees by creating a "Recognition Culture". I think it is essential reading in this very competitive Business Enviroment.

He teaches Managers that by Accentuating the Postive and Eliminating the Negitive in all facits of employer employee relationships you can't help but create a loyal, highly motivated workforce.
