If you are looking for a LEAF SHREDDER, I say again, LEAF SHREDDER the Flowtron works. I needed something for pine needles and oak leaves and after shredding a few garbage cans full I was satisfied. As long as you take out branches, pine cones and anything else that is not considered a leaf or needle it will mulch it down no problem.

If you need something for branches and twiggs I suggest getting a real chipper because it won't work for those needs. People reviewing the Flowtron and giving it bad reviews are not using the product as intended and are putting too much in at a time along with branches and twiggs.

ONE to TWO handfuls is what the directions recommend. Anything more than that and it will struggle and leave you frustrated. Once you have a big pile and start going at a couple of handfuls it goes fairly quickly. One video on here has a guy using the green hand claws and dropping large quantities in. WRONG WRONG. The claws work great for making piles and getting leaves out from under bushes and trees but take them off when you start shredding. Get a good pair of gloves and goggles and cover your face with a wet towel or shirt. Within an hour you can shred approx 10-15 bags. Perfect for an average size lawn.

The only flaw is the plastic dome and stand. It's made cheap. I had to use duct tape to hold the stand together because the screw that holds the stand together didn't hold. The plastic dome feels flimsy and you really can't grab it or it will come apart. Other than that I have no issues with the Flowtron. It does exactly what it says. Nothing more, nothing less.

Typically Amazon is cheaper than manufacturer but not in this case. You can buy from Flowtron for 60% less. you pay shipping but that's OK. Best deal is to buy the kit so you have the replacement parts plus 36 lines for only $20.95. Takes a little longer to receive so plan ahead. We order a kit every year.

I've been using my Flowtron Leaf Shredder for several years with these lines. They work well, but they do wear down and need to be replaced regularly. They're pretty pricey for what they appear to be - just lengths of basic monofilament line. So when they ran out, I decided to try basic weed wacker monofilament line - I picked up a pack of green Weed Eater brand round trimmer line (.080" x 80') at my local hardware store for $4, figuring I could cut it to length as needed. It did fit into the leaf shredder, but it didn't work. When I used the green Weed Eater line in the leaf shredder, it snapped off almost instantly. There must be something different about these replacement cutting lines that makes them stronger. So I am ordering more of these replacement cutting lines. I compared pricing at the Flowtron website, but after shipping it was more expensive to purchase it there than here at Amazon at $10.29 per pack (Prime).

Leaf eater is a weed wacker on steroids. It does a good job on shredding leaves but does not deal well with the inevitable small twigs to which leaves are attached or an occasional pine cone mixed in the leaf pile. These object eat up the plastic cord that does the leaf shredding, so frequent replacement is required. I also had to put on an inhaler mask to keep from ingesting the powder like particles that are produced and put in the are in the chopping process. The end product is a good pile of mulch material that is very useful in gardens and other areas where weeds need to be prevented.

I suppose I could save some money by purchasing weed whacker string and cutting it to length, but these are very convenient. They last fairly well (maybe an hour of straight dry-leaf shredding). Given that I am not a professional shredder, one package of these lasts me all year, so I think they are worth the convenience. I will probably buy more rather than cut my own. The extras fit nicely in the side holder of my Flowtron shredder.

Takes up a good amount of space for storage. Very loud and lots of dust. You need to wear earplugs and a nose and mouth mask. I have way too many leaves on my property to actually make a dent. Easier to just rake into a big pile and let them break down naturally.

I wouldn't recommend to anyone and would give it away if someone wanted it.

This stuff is nothing more than heavy gage monofilament. Its the same thing as the line in ytour weed whacker. You could probably by a roll of it and cut it to length as needed. If not, it convenient.

Instead of 20 bags of leaves we only had 2 1/2 bags of leaves. It works great as long as you dont get big sticks in it but it is a monster leave crusher. Well worth the money!!!

A roll of heavy duty line from the local hardware store cut 1" longer increased shredding. $10.00 for 12' of string is too much. I will be returning this pack.

Ok wear is extreme. The motor is powerfull and can take thicker twisted cord but you have to make them yourself. These are extras made up and sized and handy
