I hate to admit, but we have roaches! Actually, we HAD roaches until last week when I purchased this product. I had tried everything: sprays, bombs, traps, etc... But nothing worked. The first day I plugged this little device in, there was such a great increase in bug activity that my kids wouldn't go into the kitchen. By day 3, the roaches were GONE! I don't know where they went, and I don't care. This device saved my sanity.

UPDATE 2: These devices have had no adverse effect on any of my animals. I have a dog, 2 cats and a bird (Sun Conure Jenday mix...small parrot). No one seems the least bit bothered.

UPDATE: My home appears to be insect free at this time. I will tell you, I did purchase another unit and placed it upstairs; however, I really don't think it was necessary as my home is only 1200 sq ft. I'm such a "phobe," I felt it would be better to err on the side of caution. In any case, I really am free of insects. I haven't seen a spider, ant or cricket since installation.

I bought this item after being bit in the face by a spider while I was sleeping. It was not a pleasant experience! We stirred them up after poking around in the attic during an afternoon. I was finding the nasty buggers everywhere until I got this unit.

Since plugging the Bugfighter in, I've not seen a spider, or any insects, on any of the 3 levels of my home. I have one in the basement and one in the upstairs hallway. They've been running about 2 months now. We've even re-checked the attic, and not a spider to be found. I'm in Northern VA and we're coming into Spring now. It will be interesting to see what happens. Usually I get crickets and a bout with ants and termites as the season kicks off. If I don't post an update, you know all went well and there were no insect battles this year. If I have ants and/or termites...you'll be the 1st to know!

Specific point...no noticeable change in electric bill for 2 months of use.

We live in a condominium. Our upstairs neighbor started keeping frogs and brought in (against village ordinances) live crickets. Well, soon all of the residents were finding/killing crickets in their units. Since (at that time) no-one knew where the crickets were coming from I bought one of these devices as a deterrent.

It worked well. Our cricket sightings went from 6-8/day to merely 1-2/day. Since the source of the cricket infestation was directly overhead, I believe that no device would be 100% effective but this did deliver a significant improvement.

Ultimately, the Department of Health and a number of stiff fines caused our neighbor to cease importing live crickets into our condominium ... and I have since unplugged this device. But, if you find bugs in your home that you cannot explain, this is a reasonable way to deal with them until you have an explanation.

Remember: it's not (always) your fault! (But this device will help until you find resolution.)

I got this for my daughter, who had an infestation of black widow spiders in her house that just wouldn't go away. She has pets and a small child so she hated using pesticides, especially since they didn't seem to be working anyway. So I had Amazon ship this to her house. It wasn't even a full week later that she called to tell me all the spiders were GONE!

She says the device does make a ticking noise, but they can't usually hear it over the TV anyway, and it doesn't seem to annoy her pets at all.

A couple months ago my apartment had cockroaches everywhere. After mentioning the problem to one of my coworkers, I was pointed to this product.

I thought it was BS until I mentioned it to a friend of mine. He said that a friend of his swore by a device similar to this and that it got rid of all their roaches within a week.

Around 1-2 weeks after I plugged it in I noticed that I hadn't seen any roaches in a while. I still have it plugged in and have only came across roaches a couple times. Before I used this I came across 3-4 roaches a day in my apartment.

We were having a huge problem with ants. Sprays were only effective for a day or two and the stuff was just sickening. We've been using the Flowtron for about 3 weeks and there is a significant decrease in the ant problem and haven't had to use any spray at all. My house is about 1400 sq ft and one unit has been effective. I recommend it.

We have a spider problem since we live in a new construction area. We were insane last year at this time, killing sometimes 7 a day. I bought 2 of these to cover my 3500+ sq ft home. I placed 1 upstairs and 1 down stairs to spread out the coverage. They have been plugged in now for a couple of months and the spiders really don't seem to care. They are comming back just like last year at this time. I actually had one build its web off the corner of the unit itself. Some repelling action that is. One can only guess if the EMP pulse is doing anything at all behind the walls as it claims. Given the facts, one would have to think not. I had such high hopes for these units, but they are just more of the same that don't work as the manufacturer claims...

When plugged in, the Bugfighter PR-2 sounds very similar to a wall clock or an old wristwatch, emitting an audible "click" about once every second. This clicking sound is produced by a speaker inside the unit, and not, as one might initially suspect, by the small LED on the side of the unit that blinks exactly with each click. If you use this product in the bedroom, the constant clicking could make it difficult to fall asleep, and the noise may otherwise become annoying in places where you want absolutely no distractions (like a reading or study room). I called the manufacturer to ask about how the EM pulses work, and they mentioned that the pulses are sent through the ground wiring system. Presumably, the EM pulse feature would not function if you live in an older building without a grounding system (that is, if your plugs have two, not three, prongs). For the electronics enthusiast, the PR-2 can easily be opened to reveal the circuit inside. I do not have any pets and do not know if this product will cause distress to non-rodent animals.

There is little scientific evidence to support the efficacy of electronic pest repellers in general, and there is some evidence that other models do not repel pests. Furthermore, it will always be difficult to argue from one's own personal experience that these repellers do not work, because an immediate increase in pest activity or, on the other hand, a total lack of pest activity, are both signs of efficacy.

This said, by all signs, this unit appears to work very well. I have used two of these repellers in a 10 x 14 ft apartment room for 2 years. In that time, I have seen 2 spiders, 1 roach, and 1 wasp. I think that is impressive because the apartment building as a whole is utterly infested with bugs. I live not more than 30 feet away from two gigantic open trash cans in the central hallway, right next to a window that is always left open by the residents of the building. In addition, by my own fault and lack of time, my own room always has unwashed dishes and opened food laying around, and has very many nooks and crannies in which bugs may hide. But whenever I perform a thorough cleaning on the room, there are rarely any bugs to be found. The building is not known for having a rodent problem, so I am unsure if the unit is effective in repelling rodents. I should mention that I have also taped all the cracks around my windows, and I think this may factor into the lack of a bug problem in my apartment.

I bought this item to try to get rid of the many spiders and centipedes that come into our house. I read the reviews and it appeared that many had claimed to have favorable experiences with this. I however, did not. I have tried the item in several different rooms of the house and have allowed it remain in each location for several weeks, but I have seen no improvement. We still have the same number of critters coming in the house, even in the same room as where the unit is! We have even seen spiders build webs within a foot of the unit!

I really just think this item is just a bunch of hype and really has no effect in discouraging critters from coming in the house. I would definitely recommend that you just save your money!

Gave the product ample time to work (directions recommended 24-72 hours for it to take effect) and showed no results. Was using the item for ants and spiders. Used for two weeks before returning.
