$125 is price for BOTH speakers mind you, and these are top-notch quality Canadian constructed bipoles. Definitely pleased with the value of this set. They also come with holes in the back so you don't have to buy a wall mount (I had to return a pair of wall mounts I bought from Amazon after I got these). Highly recommended for any sound system. I placed these bipoles on the back wall of my 5.1 system, one foot from the ceiling, and about three feet above my listening position (as recommended from the audiophile forums). The wrap around effect it has going is truely amazing. I had these for over a month now, and they really shine after they've been broken in. Just make sure you calibrate your speakers' delay and volume properly. Very proud of this purchase and will buy from Fluance again if given the opportunity.

I had originally bought these speakers for my rear-channel speakers, to complete a 7.1 surround sound set-up. After a great deal of testing, I realized the rear-channel speakers aren't that significant, so I am just using a cheap pair of Dual indoor/outdoor speakers to cover the rear.

Before these speakers arrived, I was using a pair of Sony SS-B1000 bookshelfs for my surround sound speakers. They did an OK job because they are decent and powerful speakers. Still, the sound was loud and harsh and subtle surround sound details were often lost in translation, against the backdrop of my subwoofer and main speakers.

After reading all the rave reviews on Amazon, I decided to use my Fluance AVBP2s for my surround speakers in the home theater I have set up in my family room. I have just purchased a brand new and more powerful receiver, a set of new main speakers, a new center channel speaker, and a new subwoofer. I have since moved the Sony SS-B1000 bookshelf speakers, my old Pioneer receiver, and my old Sony subwoofer into my garage, where I have recently set up a sound system.

I instantly noticed a huge difference in sound engagement. For example, when I turned my system up at full blast during a movie, the sound delivery was suddenly much cleaner and the surround effects were significantly brighter and clearer, like they were intended to be. Instead of sounding like a stereo system trying to play movies like it had before, now my system sounds like a THX setup in a movie theater.

These speakers not only have great range, but also surprisingly, subtle timbre. The tonal quality is both unexpected and superb... at least in my opinion anyway.

The most outstanding feature is that they play so well with my new main speakers (Sony SSF-5000s), my new center-channel speaker (Cerwin Vegas XLS-6C), and my powerful new subwoofer (Klipsch Sub 12HG).

They tend to move out of the way and let my main speakers and sub drive the deep and pounding base, but still manage to play in complete harmony with my center channel speaker, in order to deliver crisp dialogue and finely detailed sound effects.

In conclusion, I highly recommend these speakers.

Note:

I would also recommend that you specifically use them as surround speakers, as these Fluance speakers are well made, they sound great, and the bi-directional capabilities could not be a better way to derive great sound from your 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound setup.

My rear surround speakers were the Bose 161; I was looking to replace them so that I could move them to my front height position instead. The Fluance sounded like it would fit the bill and the price could not be beat. Plus they are a Bipolar type and well after reading a lot of positive reviews by others I decided that this would make a great addition to my overall sound performance. Wow for the price they performed the way I wanted a surround speaker to perform, and hey for the price I could have been taking a chance, but well it turned out to be a good chance, it is what I was looking for. With the Bipolar design the Fluance filled the rear surround field perfectly, and with the Bose 161 as front height speakers it worked out well also. I perfered the Bose at the front height position because of it's ability to be angled accordingly at the listener. As a 7.1 system this set up sounded fuller and very distinguished for it's separating afffects. Of course the center, the front main, and the sub-woofer have to be pretty good too inorder that the overall sound is fullfilled; which my system running off a Onkyo TN-608 receiver, two studio monitors with a 12" woofer as my front mains, a 12" sub by Bic, and a center speaker with dual 6" speakers also by Bic really complete the theatre sound arrangement that I was looking for. The Fluance work for my set up in my opinion.

I bought these after hearing a friend's Fluance AVHTB+ Surround Sound Home Theater 5 Speaker System 5.1 system. I was planning on an upgrade from 5.1 to 7.1. My speakers were all Wharfedale, but Wharfedale no longer makes the bipolar surround I wanted, so I thought I would try these as my side surrounds until I could find something that matched my Wharfedale Vanguard based system better.

I was blown away! These inexpensive little surround satellites timbre matched very closely with my Wharfedales and they sound amazing! The ferro-fluid cooled neodynium tweeters are sharp and precise without being etchy, scratchy, or fatiguing. The mid-range is smooth and solid, full without being bloated.

In my room the base from these rolls off at about 125, so I did have to raise the crossover point on my sub to 120. But everything blended smoothly from there and I am super pleased.

Could you use these without a sub? No. But so what, that's not what they are intended for. If you appreciate the qualities that a good bipolar design brings to the surround positions, then you owe it to yourself to give these a listen. They may or may not match the timbre of your existing speakers as well as they did mine, but for the price they are simply a must listen!

My search is done, and these will remain on my walls for a LONG time.

I purchased not one set but 2 sets for a total of four speakers in upgrading my home conema system and I have to say these speakers are highly recommended for anyone looking to upgrade their sound system whether it's a 5.1 or the newer 7.2 version. The packaging shows the companies pride in their products offering tremendous performance and quality in their sound. The bi-polar desgin reverberates the sound in more then one direction making them perfect for side surround and back surround making the Dolby surround EX function perfect . The price for two at around $120.00 is extremly affordable and in purchasing four I felt I was one step ahead in upgrading to the 7.2 channel sound effect for my home cinema. Highly valued and recommended. A sure fire can't miss purchase and I can't imagine anyone being disapointed in thier performance. Price is important but price plus quality is awesome. Thanks Fluance for being in the sound, speaker market-place. I certainly would not hesitiate in purhasing future sound products from Fluance in the future. You just have to make sure your speakers are calibrated correctly and these allow you to be up and running. Very happy in these speakers.

I've been using these speakers for close to a month now and they really do a great job of filing the rear sound stage. This might sound cheesy but I've honestly been momentarily startled a few times, as background chatter from a show literally made me wonder if there was someone in my house, talking. It's perfect for immersion and solidly built as well.

I have a rather long, rectangular room with a 5.1 setup. Where I typically sit is close to the middle of the room, slightly closer to the rear. Previously I was using 5 1/2in bookshelf speakers as the surrounds, and due to the layout of the room, the only spot I could place them was at the rear wall behind me. Due to the uni-directional bookshelf speaker, the surround sound was definitely lacking. Although a smaller speaker size, the bipolar design of the Fluance speakers made a tremendous improvement over the bookshelf speakers. The sound actually surrounds me now. When watching sports, it actually sounds like I am in the stadium with fans all around me. Cars actually go racing by in a chase scene. Bullets fly by and debris from explosions fall next to me. I am very pleased with these speakers and glad I chose to replace my surrounds with these!

These speakers are the bomb! They sound Great, look Great and really enhances a 5.1 surround sound experience. I have these speakers set up on the back wall, behind my couch and recliner. I have read many people saying to place surround sound speakers to the side of you facing one another. I have tried that but they seem to sound best to the rear of the room facing forward. That's just my opinion. You will be amazed on how these sound, really, you will! I haven't seen any other bipolar speakers at this price, get a pair, and be amazed.

Wow, these speakers really woke up my surround sound!! I highly recommend them!!! On a side note... I know some people had some difficulty with the dual mounting holes on each speaker. I drilled a 5/16", or whatever size works for you, hole at the bottom, just barely in from the edge of the mount, and filed through the little nub that was left. This made it EXTREMELY easy to put one screw in the wall and hang, no fussing with trying to get two screws the right distance apart, and level!!

Fluance AVBP2 bipolar speakers seem to be well made solid speakers, and they sound great, for a fair price. I am using these as rear speakers with an Onkyo 5.1 surround sound receiver. I purchased these Fluance bipolar speakers to replace my monopole rear speakers. The rear monopole speakers had sounded good, but because of the way our family room is set up, (we have the speakers mounted on stands right behind the couch), I found that I kept having to turn the monopole rear speakers towards where I was sitting. Now with the Fluance bipolar speakers no matter where you sit you hear the rear speakers clearly, and they sound great. Having heard how good the AVBP2 speakers sound, I would have no trouble recommending upgrading to the larger Fluance XLBP model bipolar speakers, which I imagine sound even better. The reason I went with the smaller speakers was because I was mounting them on my existing stands, and these speakers are actually too heavy for the my stands. These speakers are designed to be wall mounted, they have two screw/nail slots, which is needed because the speakers are heavy for their size. I had to jury rig a mount so that the speakers could be used on my stands. I would have rated these speakers 5 stars, but Fluance only offers the wall mounting option. I called Fluance to see if they had stands that would work with these speakers, they said that they did not. Mounting issues aside, I am very happy with these speakers, they are the best sounding rear speaker I have owned. I have a 7.1 surround sound system in a den/home office and now I am considering replacing the two side and two rear monopole speakers, with bipolar speakers, I bet it would sound amazing. A warranty note: "Fluance speakers (excluding powered subwoofers) come with a complete lifetime parts and labor warranty", so I do not feel that it is necessary to purchased an extended warranty.
