From the Publisher

A more rigorous fluid mechanics text. Suitable for introductory fluid mechanics courses at better schools, or a second advanced fluid mechanics courses. --This text refers to the Hardcover edition.

2.0 out of 5 stars Fluid mechanics for mathematicians, October 29, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Fluid Flow: A First Course in Fluid Mechanics (4th Edition) (Paperback)
I would not recommend this book for any introductory fluid mechanics course because there are a lot of derivation steps as well as background information assumed by the author.

This is more of a mathematical approach to fluid mechanics as opposed to the more classical engineering approach.

3.0 out of 5 stars Too difficult mathematical concepts to introduce fluid flow!, May 9, 1998
By A Customer
It is a recommended textbook from my professor, but it is also difficult to be introduced for 1st year students because it uses too many mathematical concepts for introducing the fundamental principles in fluid mechanics.

Before you use this book, you should take some courses in mathematics, espeically in advanced calculus and vector analysis.

If you interest in fluid flow and have good understanding in mathematics, it must be the best text book for you!

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Fluid Flow: A First Course in Fluid Mechanics (4th Edition) (Paperback)
I used this book as supplementary material for review during a graduate course in marine hydrodynamics. I liked that it was compact and cheaper. But it's not really comprehensive enough for an introductory class.
