Unhelpful book,
This review is from: Fluke: An Angler's Guide (Paperback)
I have been a fluke fisherman for over three years, and I was hoping t improve my skills as a fisherman with this book. I am both unhappy and dissatisfied with this book. I have not gained anything that worthwile from this book. Fluke An Anglers Guide, goes into unrealated details like when the author describes how his friend got a nickname, and other tangents unrelated to fishing that I really don't want to hear about. At some points, I feel as though the author was writing this book to try to impress his friends, and not improve the readers fishing style or skills. There were few good parts of this book, but to be honest they cold be summed up in a page or two. The writing style also didn't fit my like, and my suggestion to you would be that that there are better books out there. Overall I would rate this book a 3-4 out of 10.

Thoroughly Enjoyable,
This review is from: Fluke: An Angler's Guide (Paperback)
I don't fish fluke but I still really enjoyed this book. It's nice to sit back and read an accomplished angler's accumulated life experience with one species (other than trout or bass). The book is a mix of techniques, tips, and stories. I especially liked that he has a friend with a tattoo that reads "Fluking Beautiful." I would say that this also describes this book.

Everything from appropriate gear and finding the fish to developing strategies for catching fluke,
By Midwest Book Review (Oregon, WI USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Fluke: An Angler's Guide (Paperback)
Author/fisherman Bob Sampson has spent over thirty years targeting inshore game fish and draws from his extensive experience and expertise in Fluke: An Angler's Guide to provide a invaluable guide to the fluke which covers everything from appropriate gear and finding the fish to developing strategies for catching fluke, considering different baits, and drift fishing. Nothing is omitted here - not even how to cook and store it after the catch.
