To get the most use of a meter and avoid frustration and accidents a good set of probes is needed. This is a great package to cover a very wide set of circumstances and application areas. This set is a bargain at Amazon's price; which was 35% off list. The options available in this one kit handle almost everything you would want. One probably already has regular alligator clip probe attachments that came with their meter or purchased separately so it's probably good they are not duplicated here to keep the price reasonable. You might not need something like the lug connectors very often, but boy when you need them are they ever great. With the regular probes (with some attachements), and a separate set of completely modular leads and attachements, one can keep a couple common configurations quickly available even if it means changing leads rather than just connectors. I don't how the case will hold up, but it seems fine to me given the price, I'm very glad they included it. The case has several internal compartments; I wish they all had velcro closures, but only the replacable connectors compartment/pouch is velcro sealed. Not a big deal, I'll just had my own hook and loop fasteners as the probe/cable pouches don't need to be sealed across their entire length, they just need a latch. The case itself has a good velcro closure. Great value for the money, and nice to have everything together when you need something different/special.

Just an FYI from a friend of mine who works for FLUKE - Their test probes and test leads are made by Pomona electronics. You may be able to find this exact same item with the Pomona name stamped on it for a lower price and it will be identical to the Fluke model since Fluke owns Pomona now.

Both fluke and pomona make excellent and safe test leads. These feature the fixed safety sheild to prevent you touching the conductor which is becomming more common on meters to prevent shock.

You may find some other products more well suited to your application - for example, telecommunications people will like these: Fluke TEST LEADS W/ BED OF NAILS ( MT-8203-20 ) and you can get the whole pomona kit here, which is a better deal Pomona Deluxe DMM Test Lead Kit, Multi-Use, Maxi Kit

I like this set because it contains several items which are especially handy for probing and measuring on PCBs with leads that are 0.1" pitch and smaller. The 0.025" socket connections are great for connecting to a ground pin on a connector. The small-size probes with the interchangeable fine tips make it less likely that I'll short two pins together.

I've added some pictures to illustrate the included items. Also added photos to the TL81A listing: that one is a nice kit, but not optimized for smaller electronics, like this TLK287 kit is.

I am forced to agree with several of the other reviewers of this product: the test leads are great, but the pouch is cheap. I am not a pouch snob, but I want it to last more than a few weeks! I'm a hobbyist, and as such, I don't put my test leads through the ringer. In fact, they are still in "mint" condition! But the pouch, having opened it up maybe a dozen times, decided to split in the see-though plastic (vinyl?) window. It is still usable, and I am not deterred by it, but it seems a little weak for a company of Fluke's reputation to have second-rate carry pouches.

The test leads are beautiful, and, of course, work excellently. I am happy with my purchase and wouldn't bother to worry about returning it just because of the pouch issue. Just something to keep in mind for those who might carry it further than from room to room.

Fluke test leads use silicone instead of PVC, a more expensive insulator that is lighter, inert and so far non-toxic as known [its used from breast implants to tubing used in the food industry], more supple, soft, and easier to grip; Fluke uses an even softer silicone formulation in their premium lead sets. The Fluke materials make probing with these leads repeatedly less taxing, something a professional electrician would notice on a daily basis. The interior design of the Fluke accessories are such that they seat into the accessory every time I insert them; whereas on cheaper leads like Extech Extech TL809 Electronic Test Lead Kit I can insert them so the probe heads do not engage the accessory clips.

The workmanship of these parts are flawless and highest quality, it has few peers, and thus, its among the costliest leads for multimeters.

TL224 test leads are among the softest and most pliable leads I've used, with very little restriction in movement. The TP220 test probes feel good in hand and effortless to grip. Removing the probes and inserting an accessory is easy, with strong confidence a connection is complete without doubt.

AC285 sureGrip alligator clips are very easy to manipulate but they are among the largest I've used, this is good for electrical work but not for electronics work.

AC280 hook clips: are minigrabbers, a minor drawback is that large, its size tends to pull on very small components and can unseat them.
