Product Description

* FITS STANDARD 2" DRAIN TWO PIECE TOILETS WITH 2" TANK DRAIN AND 5/8" TO 3/4" SQUARE LEVER HANDLE HOLE * FlushSaver Dual-Flush DIY Conversion Kit is EASY to operate for anyone because it looks and works the same as a traditional flush handle toilet, but with one big difference . . . while the handle is simply toggled downward as usual for higher water-volume "Number Two" flushes, it can also be toggled upward for those little water-saving "Number One" flushes. Further, a pair of Die Cut Flush Indicator labels (one for Full Flush and one for Half Flush) are included for marking the flush direction. The flush handle can also be positioned with the lever pointing downward for a LEFT-RIGHT flush orientation if preferred. Both the "regular flush" and "small flush" release enough water to fully cycle and empty the bowl, but the small flush is less aggressive and uses approximately 1/3 less water . . . adding up to over 10,000 gallons saved for an average family of four. Further, both cycles are adjustable to suit your particular tank size and water use preferences. This kit fits most common two-piece toilets with a separate tank and bowl configuration (held to together with long bolts). EVERYTHING is INCLUDED to fully replace ALL of the parts inside the tank as shown. The leaky and wasteful flapper mechanism is replaced with a MODERN adjustable, dual-action piston and seal evacuator column, while the old-style ballcock valve is replaced with a QUIET and SERVICABLE filler valve. The kit also includes a new tank gasket and non-corroding STAINLESS STEEL bolt set for a complete tank overhaul job.

I have a lot of experience with the older "One2Flush" style of drop in dual flush adapters from BeingWater. Although I had some trouble with the rubberized foam seals which ended up leaking, I was overall satisfied with their function even though they only lasted about a year.

I purchased one of these units to replace a drop in style dual flush adapter. Overall, it is well engineered and well thought out with just a few issues. I was impressed with the adjustable height overflow and toilet bolts. Installation is straight forward and could be accomplished by any average person with a bit of around the house experience. The unit seems to use slightly more water than the "One2Flush" drop-in. A full flush set to the minimum level still drains nearly all of my tank.

Pros:
1. Well engineered, with a few exceptions
2. Adjustable height overflow
3. Tank bolts are solid, well designed, and have effective seals
4. Much more attractive handle (still plastic, but at least it doesn't look really cheap)
5. Included sediment filter
6. The handle sits further out from the tank compared to the "One2Flush" This allows it to clear the tank lid on my toilet.

Cons (with explanations):
1. Overflow has two holes which cause leaking of fluid from the fill spigot. The top of the overflow has two holes which allow you to feed the fill line through and place the spigot inside the top of overflow tube. This, in itself, is a difficult task. I could not get this to work properly so I just attached the spigot at the top of the tube as recommended by the installation instructions.

I have installed several of these dual flush kits over the years and now have them on all of my toilets. As with any DIY project, the first one took some time and figuring out, but the next ones went quite a bit faster. They have lasted a good long while, but one was starting to age and needed replacing, so decided on this one. The kits keep getting better every year and this one is the best yet with a nice looking product, stainless bolts, good flush decals and fairly clear instructions. There is now quite a bit of helpful information online as well and here are my installation tips for anyone planning on installing one of these kits:

>Read the instructions ahead of time, look inside your toilet tank, then search around and watch some of the YouTube videos before attempting installation. Each toilet is a little different, but this is not rocket science. Most of the questions I had were answered by a little online research beforehand.

>Not many tools are required, but make sure you have the right ones. Get a plumbers wrench that can handle the old flush valve nut and a hack saw blade if you have to cut it or the tank bolts loose. You can always return the wrench if you don't need to use it. Having it while installing is a much better option than having to run out to the store last minute.

>Lay out plenty of old towels around your toilet before you begin. Even if you are very careful, this can be a little messy. There will be some water, some rust and dirt, then there may be some mildew and other substances you can't even identify. Better to have that on a towel than all over your floor and various fixtures in your bathroom.

>Make sure that the components are positioned well and do not interfere with each other.

Since the Being Water kits are being phased out, I decided to try this one in the new house since it looks similar and is lower priced. Yes, I am a woman who enjoys doing her own plumbing projects and this one is not a big deal. Any DIY type person with basic tools and plumbing skills can install this kit in under an hour. Doing it myself not only saved me a ton of money over hiring a plumber, but I'm in the process of switching all my toilets to dual-flush because they clearly save money on water as well. As mentioned by others, the instructions with this kit are very good, the flush decals are nice because they are clear to understand and I think I agree the "regular" flush down and "half" flush up handle configuration is less confusing for guests who have not used these before.

The overall design of this kit is clearly superior to the old-style flapper valves. Everything is plastic, but nicely made and very sturdy with no rust or corrosion to worry about later. I wish the handle was metal, but all of these kits have a plastic handle and this one has a nice metal-like appearance with chrome flush icons. It is also very easy to replace if I ever need to because it snaps right out and is available as a separate part. The handle is connected over to the flush valve with a shielded cable instead of the clunky lever and chain arrangement, so is easy to route and operates smoothly. Not that anyone cares about what's inside a toilet tank, but this one fits well in my standard toilet and looks great, so is a satisfying project. It also fills the tank more quickly and quietly than before.
