A unique collection of duets, which will provide a wide ranging selection of high-quality music to flautists and guitarists. Pieces include well-known classics, lesser-known yet captivating pieces and some original compositions. The accompanying recording allows the listeners to hear both parts simultaneously, to facilitate learning the pieces. It also allows for either of the instruments to be turned off completely so that an individual instrumentalist can use the recording as their playing partner. The guitar part for each piece is written in several ways to accommodate players of all abilities. Standard notation is provided for classically trained guitarists, tablature is also provided, and each piece includes simplified chord names along with a suggested strum.

My son plays guitar and I play the flute. This was a nice collection that we both enjoyed. One plus of this volume is that guitar tab is included. I have had a hard time finding flute/guitar music that has tab, and while my son reads music, he reads tab much faster. The variety of music was nice - some pieces more challenging for flute and less so for guitar, others more challenging for guitar and less so for flute. I agree that most music is intermediate to advanced. We liked "Foggy Dew" and "Jesu" pieces.

...but the cd requires a player with the ability to isolate L/R tracks if you want to play with the cd. If you have an actual partner to play with it's a great book. I thought the arrangements for flute were pretty good, some are a little in the low range of the instrument. They are mostly early intermediate to intermediate, nothing too tough technically. I don't play guitar so I can't speak for the guitar parts. The cd is nice to listen to if not useful to play with. I love the arrangements of "The trees they do grow high" and "The Foggy Dew".
