This album is one of those rare finds in which almost every song on it is a gem. Wheelers compositions are filled with nods to his influences (the first track is called "Everybodys Song But My Own") but are always fresh and his own.

This great Soulnote recording has been one of my favorites for years. A must for anyone remotely interested in traditional straight-ahead jazz quintet writing & playing.
