Just to let people you are able to use 16 gram threaded CO2 disposable tanks. I pick up 25 on ebay for 25 bucks with free shipping. So far I love my system for my 10 gallon tank. I fill both chambers 2 times a day when my lights are on. So far my plants have been growing like crazy ever since i deployed this system.

I researched CO2 injection for months and considered doing the whole DIY with yeast and then I found this setup for my 10 gallon tank, planted aquarium. Going with this is much more convenient then a messy DIY. I received these on time and with no issues. Packaged well and I had this thing up and running about five minutes after opening the box. Plants love it and so do I.

Set up took about five minutes within an hour my plants were pearling off oxygen like air stones (very fun).
I've been into reef tanks since the late 80's but a complete NOOB to freshwater planted tanks and CO2 dosing was a bit scary for me so thought liquid carbon would be enough in a well lit tank. Well it's not my plants never pearled and bad algae loved the intense lighting.
This kit has introduced me to CO2 dosing in a simple way without the DIY mess . I'm afraid this simple system is acting as a gateway drug as I'm now shopping for more complex systems .
Anyway if your just starting out with freshwater plants like me and CO2 phobic this kit is a great start .

I bought this CO2 setup for my 5 gallon fluval spec v tank. Overall this setup is a good value. I didn't care much for the stock diffuser though, for a smaller tank it's way way too big. At the same time it wasnt raising the CO2 in my tank to the levels I wanted for my plants. So I upgraded with a fluval ceramic diffuser and fluval bubble counter and a check valve. So it's similar to the fluval 88g setup but less expensive overall.

I like this setup a little bit more than the larger fluval setup for the simple fact that refill co2 cartridges are very inexpensive on amazon. Instead of using the fluval brand replacement co2 cartridges you can use basic 16g threaded CO2 cartridges that are barely more than $1 each shipped. At about 1 bubble per second, 1 cartridge of CO2 has been lasting me about 1-2 weeks with me running the CO2 for about 2-3 hours a day while I have my tank lights on.

I feel this setup is great for someone like myself who's newer to having a planted tank. I think once I get more into it like most... I'll want to move to something with a bigger tank with a regulator that has an electronic solenoid. But for the time being this is really working well on my smaller tank and allowed me to experimenter with a CO2 system for a lesser price than going all out right away on a bigger system.

Overall I'm giving this a 4/5 star because the stock diffuser is really lack luster in my opinion which is why I upgraded. At the same time this setup should come with a check valve and it doesn't. Daily water backs it's way up the hose to the regulator. With out a check valve it could cause a disastrous siphon and drain the tank and kill your fish + ruin w/e the water gets on. A check valve is so inexpensive I'm astounded that this kit didn't come with one.

The defuser is crap, but I happened to have a better one. A bit over priced when you think about it, really, 10 bucks for 3 fluval 20g canister, and this comes with one, when you can purchase 30 for 20 bucks or so. so, mostly I paid for the regulator and the chance to hold it in my hands and figure out how to make a better one for cheaper. It arrived two days earlier than estimated and while the product is mediocre the company shipping it was swell.

this system covers all the basics. My original order came with a leaking regulator but fluval replaced it at no extra charge. The co tanks are small and expesive to replace so although this system works great you'll be investing in alot of co tanks.. and the only company that makes replacement co2 tanks for this system is fluval. you can't buy generic tanks, they wont fit into the regulators threads. But its the only co system that has 100% diffusion, so its a small price to pay for healthy looking plants..

Some who rated this system poorly seem to be comparing it to far superior methods of Co2 injection, which isn't fair. This is $20 and you can purchase 30-packs of 16 gram catridges for a little over $1 a cartridge. It's a cheap way for the beginner to jump into the world of Co2 injection. I also believe if you are using this system for anything bigger than a nano tank, it's just not going to be as effective, and obviously so.

I have this running in a 4g nano with a 26watt Finnex T5 6500K fixture. I use the included diffuser, and although it is big and bulky, it does do the job, and better than a regular glass diffuser. I first ran a bubble counter and glass diffuser since the general opinion of the included diffuser was bad. I was running 1 bubble every 3-4 seconds, which is more than adequate in a 4G tank holding no more than 3G of actual water. My drop checker refused to come up.

I immediately switched to the bulky plastic diffuser, filled the chambers, and by the time they were empty, the drop checker rose into the green. I fill the chambers twice a day and my dwarf baby tears are loving it.

Now, in comparison to inline diffusion with an atomizer, this will fall short. But if you have experience running that kind of setup, I don't see why you'd be running this system. In comparison to a glass diffuser, the included diffuser is much more effective AND uses less Co2.

I gave this 4 stars only because Fluval has the gall to charge over $5 for one 20 gram Co2 cartridge.
