5.0 out of 5 stars Stainless Steel Bird Spikes
I bought 6 of the stainless steel spikes to discourage a frequent noisy visitor to our chimney cap. A male flicker would regularly visit our galvanized steel chimney cap and create a noisy display (presumably for his mate). After installing the bird spikes (using polyurethane adhesive), covering only about 1/2 of the chimney surface, we have not had a return visit. To...

3.0 out of 5 stars Stopped MOST Birds
I glued these strips to the top of a horizontal section of downspout using silicone caulk. Most birds seemed to be deterred by the spikes, but one persistent robin built a nest between the spikes. I removed the nest prior to any eggs, and it didn't return.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stainless Steel Bird Spikes, May 21, 2007

I bought 6 of the stainless steel spikes to discourage a frequent noisy visitor to our chimney cap. A male flicker would regularly visit our galvanized steel chimney cap and create a noisy display (presumably for his mate). After installing the bird spikes (using polyurethane adhesive), covering only about 1/2 of the chimney surface, we have not had a return visit. To prevent galvanic corrosion between the stainless steel bird spike base and the galvanized steel sheet metal I installed thin rubber gaskets between the base of the spikes and the roof sheet metal.

5.0 out of 5 stars Spikes deter pesky iguanas, January 13, 2008
This review is from: 5 Feet Fly-Bye Wide Spikes 100% Stainless Steel! No Plastic Parts.
The Fly-Bye Wide Spikes are useful in deterring the invasive iguana population in
Florida from crawling on our utility wires, where they daily relieve themselves leaving a
huge mess. Since we installed the spikes, there have been no tell-tale signs of the critters.

I installed these spikes at the peak of the roof covering our porch where the builder left an opening above the support beam. These were very difficult to install due to the tight quarters (I should have used adhesive like the other reviewer) but have kept the birds away for over a year now.
