5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Book and Guide!
I am so pleased with this Book and river guide, I have been planning a trip to the Glen Canyon for over a year and had started doing my own research of the river looking at satellite maps, youtube.com, etc. Then I discovered this guidebook and it is a real "God send," saving me all kinds of time and preparation. I may even laminate some of the pages - especially the...

2.0 out of 5 stars Too Much History, Not Enough Good Fishing Info
I don't like to be negative but I am disappointed in the book. The title says its a guide to "Fly Fishing Lees Ferry". I am sorry, but the fishing details peculiar to Lees Ferry are not what they could be. It is more a history book than anything else.

Thats all well and good. No problem with history books. But I thought I was buying a book on fishing,...

But I thought I was buying a book on fishing, not history.

And not just a general book on fishing, but a book on Lees Ferry fishing. Why is it that any book on fly fishing has to include a Knots section and a Casting section? If I want a book on Introduction To Fly Fishing, that is what I will buy. But I wanted Lees Ferry info, not knot and casting info. Every time I see knots and casting in a book that is suppossed to be specific to an area, the intent of the author is clear.... fill up space in the book with easy unrelated stuff since he doesn't have enough info on the real topic to make a full book. Come on, don't you think people that want specific info on Lees Ferry know how to cast and tie knots? Don't you think these same people want your insight on the fishing aspects of the river rather than the historical points of the river.

Retitle the book " History of Lees Ferry With Some Fishing Info Thrown In"

Dave, if you lived there for so long, you could have at least made the publisher get the name right! It is Lees Ferry, no apostrophe. And it is some of the best fly fishing on the face of the planet as far as I'm concerned. Marble Canyon & the Vermillion Cliffs at dusk is absolutely magical. Good book on a great place and a wonderful sport!

Oh, and I think that Dave will agree that guide I use, Bill McBurney, is another top notch guide for the area. Either one you go with, Dave or Bill, you are going to have a great time fishing!

I may even laminate some of the pages - especially the detailed river maps as they will be a great help on the river! Thank you Dave Foster (author) for you devotion and passion seen in your work! And thank you illustrator Pete Chadwell for your wonderful and detailed work as well! Blessings to all!

Nice book, and interesting history of the canyon. You really need to see it to believe it. No place on earth is prettier than fishing here. The book includes a map of the river and rest areas along the route.

I really enjoyed the book and found it to be more than just a book on fly fishing. I appreciated the history discussed on the area of Glen Canyon / Grand Canyon.

I also had the priveledge to procure the guide services of the author, Dave Foster for two days with some buddies last year. What a great trip! I will be making it again very soon.

A truly unique area to fish and just visit!
