About the Author
Bill Willmert was born in 1949. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, in 1973. Bill started fly fishing for pike and salmon in the 70’s and has since fished all over the United States in fresh and salt water. He has set 26 IGFA fly rod records. He started fishing for rough fish while living in southwest Missouri. During this time, he and his wife also set several line class tippet IGFA world records. Gar and bowfin were personal favorites. Bill now does most of his fishing on the Little Red River where he also guides and does some custom tying as well. His favorite fly fishing is still for northern pike and small mouth bass, so he spends a few weeks each spring in northern Ontario. Bill has demonstrated tying some of his patterns at the Sow Bug Festival, the FFF Southern Conclave and the FFF International Conclave.
