If you stumbled upon this by accident (as I did) then it is your lucky day. Fyfe Dangerfield shows another side to his talent with this debut solo album. It's written after the end of a relationship; I only wish I could articulate feelings with the same style and panache. Every track has something about it that makes you pause, listen and then feel - genius!

I first heard the Guillemots when they were being showcased on a popular British airline at 30,000 ft above Washington DC on a sunny day. This album is like that - a joyous discovery of unique talent that has lyrics you just shake your head at, but they work. Where else would you hear "when you can't get past half past eleven without feeding the sharks on the shelf" and know that it fits perfectly with the feeling that it seeks to engender?

So go on - trust your instinct and buy it. If you can get the album with the bonus tracks then so much the better; his adaptation of 'She's Always a Woman' is a great tribute to a great singer. This is the album that has put the biggest smile on my face this year!

Why do we all have to stumble on Fyfe Dangerfield and also his band Guillemots?. This album is a stand out listen:- gorgeous vocals, sweet strings, piano to die for, painterly lyrics with a wry side and a wise side. It is so seriously under the radar and under rated it's just not true! Just buy ! You won't be disappointed but will only delight all the more in subsequently discovering Guillemots albums too. There you will also find so many beautiful songs you will feel like you stumbled on real treasure and that's what these albums all are precious gifts that you will keep going back to again and again for all your days.
