review of Flyfishing Southwestern Colorado by Mark D. Willia,
By
This review is from: Flyfishing Southwestern Colorado (Paperback)
For flyfishers living or visiting the southwestern colorado area, this book is absolutely essential. The amount of research that went into this book must have taken years, and there's nothing else out there with this information. It's honest, and gives me a heads up on the weaker creeks I don't need to waste my time with, and offers great advice on the water I definitely need to fish. I never leave home without it, and use it in conjuction with my DeLorme topo maps to plan all of my S.W.CO. trips. It doesn't have maps like other guide books have, but it references the necessary DeLorme quadrants you'll need. Anyone who uses these maps regulary knows that it would have been superfluous to include maps.

Old and not very useful,

I bought this book and The Flyfishers Guide to Utah. Comparing the two books, the Southwestern Colorado book lacks illustrations, especially maps, that I found useful in the Utah book. This book references the DeLorme maps. While the DeLorme maps are a must, its a quite a task to flip flop between the book and the DeLorme maps when you are trying to find the area that is being described in the book. This book is old and is probably outdated. |
