Eye opening documentary for Hip Hop fans and Sociologists.,

This review is from: Flyin' Cut Sleeves (DVD)
This is a powerful and impacting documentary. It features rare footage of the mostly African-American and Puerto Rican South Bronx gangs from the 1970's, and updates the footage by visiting the gang members in early 1990's New York. There is nothing predictable about the documentary, and it gives real names and life-stories of the actual gang leaders. It is essential viewing for those interested in the early years of Hip Hop, and complements and enhances the film "80 Blocks from Tiffany's" and the books "Yes Yes Y'All" and "Can't Stop Won't Stop".

This was a great documentary that showed how hip hop and gangs have always been intertwined.
