AS GREAT AS ANY OF HIS MUSIC, February 2, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Flyin Shoes (Audio CD)
Townes Van Zandt is one of the greatest american songwriters ever, no less than Dylan, Guthrie and the kind. He certainly deserves much wider recognision. I couldn't believe I'm the first person writing review on his album. If you love anything about this country, listen to this great American (read Universal) music. By the way, does anybody know if it's possible to find his great live album "Live At The Old Quarter" on CD

GREATNESS IN SIMPLICITY..., April 11, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Flyin Shoes (Audio CD)
Townes Van Zandt is a great songwriter because he gets to the heart of the matter with such simplicity. He is usually known for his melancholy ('Rex's Blues' is only the tip of the iceberg), but his 'up' songs are just as memorable. 'Brother Flower' and 'Flyin' Shoes' are both very hummable, and 'Pueblo Waltz' is also a very good song.
