Review
"About half-way through my forty-plus years as a pilot, I discovered that instrument flying is not all cut and dried. There are lots of practicalities that don't show up in the literature, tips and techniques that are acquired only through experience. Brian Jacobson has written a book that's packed with solid, practical information, that you can put to good use on every instrument flight. It can make you a better IFR pilot...without waiting twenty years." --
Richard Taylor, Author of Instrument Flying"Brian Jacobson dispenses lofty wisdom, speaks the truth, and in the end this special book is guaranteed to make you a better pilot." --
Rod Machado, Author, Speaker"The instrument rating is a big, important step on the path to proficiency. In this book Flying On The Gages, Brian Jacobson reaches through years of experience as a professional pilot and aviation writer to extend a helping hand." --
Mark Lacagnina, Editor of Aviation Safety Magazine"This book is loaded with helpful tidbits of information and it belongs on the bookshelf of every instrument pilot. Jacobson presents the material in a well organized and easily readable fashion." --

From the Author
I wrote about many of my own experiences as well as those of others in Flying On The Gages. That's what makes the book so interesting. The instrument rating is the hardest of all to get, and the dry, boring training manuals don't help. This book will give you a leg up on your training or give you insights and information that you might not learn for years as you fly in the IFR system. Don't pass this book up. It will make you a better instrument pilot.
